Tomorrow will be a momentous day for rugby league fans.

It will mark the final time RL fans will have to cop their big afternoon ANZAC Day clash being a Pay TV event only.

I have full faith in the ARLC. They will ensure future arvo ANZAC Day clashes are shown live on free-to-air around the country.

Things we should have been doing years ago are finally being done...I hope.

Well it would be.

I'm certain the ARLC have seen that RL fans crave live footy and this will be taken into account in the next TV deal.

If the AFL can have their ANZAC Day game live on FTA around the country then so can we.

I'm still optimistic we'll have 4 live FTA games nationwide in the next deal, including ANZAC day.

It's archaic for there to be just 1 live FTA game per week currently in NSW compared to the 4 the AFL has.

Getting 4 live FTA games nationwide is more important than just going for the maximum possible $ figure.

Fox currently gets every AFL game, while FTA gets 4. Those 4 are simulcast.

If the next deal involves something like that we'd have the ideal situation where games like ANZAC day would be on Fox ad free for people like you and I, and it would be broadcast nationwide on FTA for the masses.

Why would a live broadcast of the ANZAC Day RL match on free-to-air ruin the ANZAC match? The coverage wouldn't be any different to what we get during Origin on FTA (one ad after a try ect..)

Don't you think allowing anyone who has a TV to watch an NRL "event style" game played in front of a big crowd would be a good thing??

I've got Pay TV so on a personal level it doesn't bother me. But I like to look at the bigger picture and it really shits me that for years most of the QLD and NSW population can access FTA AFL on ANZAC Day yet that is not the case with RL (unless ANZAC Day falls on a Fri or Sun).

NSW has a 40 percent Pay TV take up rate.

Showcase RL games deserve better.
