Also, Johnson is the man........

Should wear six and roam free IMO, but he is all class and does not fear tackling, will miss some, but will make the opposition miss more.

Imagine Shaun outside Stacey...................

Damn shame I cant see that.

Saturday night was our best win over Australia since the 2008 WC Final,

Which was the best win since 1991 at Melbourne Olympic Park (Coach: Bob Bailey),

Which was the best win since 1987 at Lang Park (Coach: Tank Gorden - a young team, rebuilding after the Graham Lowe-era).

Which was the best win since 1985 at Carlaw Park (18-0, but we should have won the series),

Which was the best win since 1983 at Lang Park (Coach: Graham Lowe: ending a five-year unbeaten run by the Kangaroos),

Which was the best win since 1971 (Coach: Lory Blanchard - our last test series win over Australia)...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lory_Blanchard

I'm assuming that this is going to be controversial, but we look better without Luke on the field. More direct. He gets caught out looking around for a receiver, often runs, steps, then passes which leaves the runner little time to hit the advantage line with force. He quite often overplays his hand in the opposition 20 as well. My opinion, but I think we've played our best football this year with first Ben Henry, then Lewis Brown, and yep, even Thomas Leuluai at hooker.

Not enough playing time for Taumalolo. I understand he is still young, and new to the team, but he is also one of our main attacking threats. Give him more minutes.

Good game by SKD. He really got involved. And was effective in doing so.

Another solid performance by Hiku, but we're lacking real penetration in attack from that position.

Still a lack of tactical nous at times. Where was the bombing to Mata'utia and Mansour?

Still missing some composure at key moments from the halves. Could have wrapped the game up several times. e.g. Johnson running into touch on 2nd tackle in Aussie 20 metres after the Cronk knock on, Brown running on the last tackle at 72mins and turning over possession. Having said that, Foran and Johnson have really begun to mature as a halves pairing. They could be absolutely outstanding for us in the next few years.

I don't think any of what you said in that post is really controversial to be honest. Luke wasn't in great form, and the best our dummy half play looked all tournament was when TL was on the field against England. More minutes for Taumalolo definitely would be a good thing.

The critique of the fullback and halves was spot on too. Hiku runs the ball well but often takes the wrong option in attack, though he got better at that in each game. As for the halves... the (Aussie) guys I was watching it with were very amused at my half-pissed yelling every time another ****ing bomb went up to Inglis, rather than the wings. And when they finally did go to the wings (and mistakes were made by the Aussies as a result), did we learn? Did we ****! Straight back to bombing Inglis. Stupid.

Johnson played very well - yet I can't help but think half of that was Australia's doing. Instead of letting him make a decision in attack, too often they charged up at him in 1s and 2s, making the decision for him and forcing him to run... at a now-staggered defensive line. Easily his biggest strength. Australia's defensive option taking out-did some of our attacking options for stupidity in the end.

Hardly surprising that Luke wasn't at his best, he'd not played much... obviously all going well and with game time he's light years ahead of other 9's we have.

Hiku is a fine all round player, but I think wing/centre is a better position, but he's serviceable at fullback. He's not the quickest, but neither is Nightingale, yet I'd never not pick him if he's available.

This.

And saying Johnson is wasted at the Warriors because theres too much weight on his shoulders is arse backwards thinking- Johnson isn't the problem, its the players that aren't giving him the platform to work off that are. Get the forward pack firing, back and a consistent 5/8th to work with and I've no doubt he'll be playing like a champion week in, week out.

That was exactly my point. Too much weight because he isn't getting the go-forward or playmaking support from others. At the moment, his talent is largely being wasted at our club due to average recruitment. Gets the "inconsistent" tag, but probably none of the other halves in the game (including Thurston) would look like much behind our pack.

This is pretty much bang on, Johnson also seemed to function better alongside Townsend as opposed to Leuluai last season
