So it starts like this.

Moylan, Nikora, Graham, Woods out before team is selected

Feefs, SJ, Feki and Boogs selected despite being known to be hobbled. They had to be, there are no adequate replacements

Lose Dugan in warmup and SJ in running.

9 first choice players unavailable or playing hurt.

Thats about just under half your salary cap and half your starting side working unproductively. Tell me any business that can be productive when half the elite workforce is off on extended sick leave.

You all know I have been against stacking that right side with rookies. Have been from the start. However, there doesn't seem to be viable alternatives given the injuries. John "Mother Hubbard" Morris has a bare cupboard.

There is no rhythm and it's easy to see why. Has the same team ran on and completed a match this year? There is a lot of inexperience and it shows. There is fatigue in the old boys and it may be affecting leadership. There is plain bad luck.

To the geniuses here who week in and week out push for having this one dropped and this one put in etc you now have your wish and this is what it looks like. Not pretty huh?

Ratings

Kennedy - 3. Gun shy. Tackle shy. Tries too hard. He got away with a similar pass last week, not as bad, high rather than low but still shitty. The difference was he threw it to Dugan who had the experience and ability to actually catch it and turn it into a try. The kid saw an inch in that and took a mile last night.

Francis - 3. Was served up shit from his team mates and shit from Milford. Didn't handle that aspect at all. Did try his guts out with his runs but needs to learn not to be so upright. Leads to him getting rag dolled. Worked hard at cleaning his messes up and had success at least once.

Xerri - 3. FFS man don't run parallel to your own goal line when you are only 5-10 metres out. Got caught out and thrown back but didn't learn from it and did it again in the second half. Also had his Pomeroy suit on again and made simple handling errors. Going to be a gun but needs to get his basics right.

Morris - 3. Hope that's his one bad game for the year because as much as I love him as a player he was ordinary. I suspect he played on after a number of incidents which seemed to stun him. I reckon he's busted as well

Feki - 5. Best of the back 5. Must have felt like John Reid out there last night.

Johnson - 1. One good way to rip a hamstring is to play with an undercooked quad in your other leg. Victim of circumstance. Probably should have been still resting the quad tear rather than trying to "run" around putting himself at risk for an overcompensation injury.

Chad - 6. Played the same game as always but it looks ordinary when the support isn't there. Not that he faked much up but he was behind a well beaten pack and was surrounded by kids that were feeling their way in the dark.

Fifita - 7. Did a lot but it wasn't with impact. Playing hurt is not affecting his workload but it is playing havoc with his effectiveness. Broncos also employed the old Old SOO trick with him. Ran at him all day, he made 50 tackles, and blunt him. It worked and took the sting out of his already fairly flaccid hit ups yet he still trundled 151 metres out somehow.

Brailey J - 5. He's a real trier but he didn't really bring anything to the team.

Prior - 4. Playing distracted for mine. Doesn't appear to have his mind on the job. Where are the crash tackles? Where's the fast PTB gone? Where the leg drive gone? The offloads? Something amiss here IMO

Capewell - 3. You have a job. It's simple. Do it. Guilty of trying way too hard and making dumb choices. He probably should have played right centre last night with Xerri to the wing and a backorder bought in. Played like he felt he had al the responsibility and complicated his own game which isn't great at the best of times. Missed a whopping 12 tackles.

Sorensen - 1. The door is this way ----------->

Gallen - 4. Seemed to be too intent on being a tough guy and taking on the Broncos Kid Monsters. Came off second best for it. We'll get some good stuff out of him as the year goes by no doubt but for mine he's done as a force. At least he brings some experience.

TPP - 3. Back to nothing but I will say he was left on the bench far too long. Bloke like him will not get in the game if not used early enough

Bakuya - 4. Did what he could the best he could. With one hand.

BB - 2. I would have put him at half when SJ went off but that's me. Wasn't competitive in any way being a middle player against that bunch of fired up Frankensteins. Needs some peptides

Williams - 5. If he has more strings to his bow we need to see them. Works hard in defence but didn't do much in attack. Probably worthy of more than 31 minutes

3. Fifita
2. Townsend
1. Williams

It looks like xerri doesn't handle playing on the right side , probably affecting his handling to a degree

Have queried this before but was told he prefers right side.

I reckon if he said that he is pulling someone's pude. Every video and game I have watched he has been on the left.

Might get his chance next week. I reckon Morris got broken last night. His defence was horrid. 60% efficiency. No impact with the ball.

I'm watching that space...

The rookie mistakes gave them all the ball in the right place.

This helped our pack get dominated. Backrow especially,

Think your harsh on Jayden, did a effort playing 5/8 behind a beaten pack.

Would loves to see his stats V Cameron Smith over the first three years.

That is too many minutes for Blayke for now, but what can you do, injuries.

Regardless I gave him 5/10. Puts him in the elite for this game.

Part of this wash up is though, we are not making top 4, not now, maybe never.

Even finals might be a stretch with so many out. If we can scrap a few wins and get there, would still be the first from 5-8.

Hey Stake will get his rookie fest.

The OP is pretty well spot on. A few thoughts to add.
1. I hope Xerri has the humility and smarts to learn quickly. Has one highlight reel try and a shit load of simple errors. Showed no urgency to provide cover for Ronaldo and got rag dolled runnibg across field close to the line. He has the physical attributes but does he have the mental attributes to make the most of his talent.

2. The spate of hamstring injuries is odd. Had very few soft tissue injuries in 16 and 17. Different training methods or getting old?

3. There are plenty out and plenty busted. Fifita is busted and still leading. JMo is busted. Gallen is trying hard but no longer the physical force he was.

4. This team can still do damage if it gets back to close to full strength.

4. Morris is impressive in the presser. No point ranting or getting emotional.

5. Ronaldo has something about him. Ran hard and had a go.

I agree. I watched most of the first half & despite some costly errors, Ronaldo does seem to be powerful & determined.

He’s a good addition to the top 30.

I like seeing rookies get a run but having that many out there was not going to work too many injuries.

Only positive last night, Broncs did not score one try from there side of field every try came from our mistake each one, we were punished for dropping the ball.

Ronaldo - There is potential didnt help what service he was dished up, i liked though he kept putting hand up for work, he is more a centre then winger.

Kennedy - He needs to understand that this is FG not NSW Cup, everything is at faster tempo, when he comes in as extra 5/8 he looks good, he will be fullback next game, just catch ball and run back no passes on first tackle

Xerri - I honestly think when he run sideways that is going to be what happened at all juniors he played he will bust through, these are the elite, cut the sideway out, run straight and then step and get low on own goal line.

BB - Came on, he did some good things, he was caught i think JB went into halves it was a mess no direction, he was left to do it all, liked though his 40/20 attempt our first in 20 years

Prior - He is playing like he is preparing to move on, i believe this is a player that only Flanno was able to get best out of, he played well for Bennett then dropped off, only for Flanno to turn him into SOO player

Capewell/Sorensen - worst backrowers in the comp, next week it should be Williams/Nikora, i never want Sorensen in 17, Capewell might get gig if no one left

The problem with our blokes is that none of them are thinkers. When they are not involved in the actual play they stand around like dog shit on the ground.

They have been like it for years. Never quick to set a scrum when needed. Player drops the ball and they just all stand around like 'what now'. No urgency in playing the ball.

Have a look in the donks game where we were playing hotball towards the end. The ball went through a lot of hands to the far side of the field and then was passed back to the other side.

Gal got himself back in position for a pass and got it he was going to pingit wide. Stoopid Capes had been standing like the statue of liberty watching the play and making no effort to drop back onside. Gal gets the ball looks to ping it but there was Capes still standing 3 metres in front of him.

We is dumb arses.

Gallen said he had lost weight for his boxing bout against Hopoate and I reckon those missing kilos are reducing his efficacy.
So the Sharks get to take second place to a ridiculous nothing supposed charity boxing match against someone we can’t even remember (or don’t want to remember)...
