after watching brett finch and luke walsh star for their new clubs last night it filled me with joy knowing they had both been signed for bottom dollar and we didnt even take an interest in them. then i thought about who else we have missed in the halves:

michael monaghan
brett seymour
jamie soward
nathan fien
brett finch (twice)
peter wallace
travis burns
luke walsh
brett kimmorley
trent barrett (twice)
craig wing
todd carney
ben rogers

have all changed clubs since we signed john morris. any one of them would be 10 times better then him.

yet sheens's recruitment has never once been questioned by the media

Not all of those blokes would be 10x better then him.... some would be 50 to 100 times better.

Yeah, but most of those are natural 5/8ths or half/hooker utilities. What you need is a specialist organisational halfback. Of the names you mentioned, only Peter Wallace and Brett Kimmorley would fit that bill.

Having said that, I agree with you - even if they 5/8ths or utilities, they are ALL better than JMo.

If you can't find or develop an organiser, though, maybe its worth using a backrower at 6 to stiffen up your defence. A Marshall/Ellis halves combination is something that no one's considered, and might even work.

Putting a 2nd rower to 5-8th isn't the answer. Let's face it, we already have a mini 2nd rower there now. Has a go, 40 tackles, can pass sometimes, can't kick etc. Doesn't work.

The answer is giving a kid a chance or getting someone to the club. Sheens and Co, 3 woeful years on, have shown no inclination to do either.

And PS, it's not like our defence in any particular channel is a problem. Our defence is woeful across the park.

That defensive set at 10-all when Penrith had a 20 metre tap says it all. We first made contact with them behind their 20. Then in three tackles they march 80 metres up the field and score - not from breaks, just from embarrasing grabs and misses, on the fringes and in the middle.

We're just not good enough at the point of contact, in attack or defence, across the park. And it has been the same for almost 4 years.

magpies wanted to get luke walsh and he was available in the off season but wests tigers didn't want him and wouldn't come up with money from their second tier to get him

may regret that one for a while the kid can play

Why hasn't Josh Lewis been given a run in first grade? I bought him in my virtual NRL team at the start of the season thinking he would be an absolute bargain. Ended selling him about 5 weeks later when it was obvious that so long as Morris and Benji were fit, they would be the halves.

He's a solid player, and could possibly even be more then that if given the chance. Certainly has more potential then Morris.

Fully agree- Lewis does deserve a chance but one has to get Teflon to accept the folly of his indulgence with Marshall and Morris. AND, we know what chance that is of happening dont we?

I guess we can add Nathan Fien to that list. he has signed with a club where he will have to battle for a starting spot with Soward, Hornby, Head, Priddis and Young. he would be guaranteed a starting spot at the tigers : (

yeah but we're over the cap with superstars like gibbs, halatau, payne, ryan, dunley, morris etc

whilst the dragons only have nevilles like boyd, cooper, morris, soward, hornby, jeremy smith, weyman, poore etc running round for them..and still remain under the cap
