As a long time Warriors fan one of the things you get depressingly used to is the Warriors being a badly mismanaged club. I think over the lifetime of the club there’s been maybe 5-6 years total where they seemed to be generally well run, and they mostly coincided with on field success.
I think most of us held out little hope that the current owner and execs were any better - Robison seemed like an egotistical interfering blowhard at first, and Cameron George generally seemed full of hot air. So I’ve got to say I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how well this years is going and that they probably deserve some credit too. Robinson seems to be staying out of the spotlight and making sure the club has the funds to do what it needs to, and the club has hardly put a step wrong with the direction it’s taken this year- taking games around NZ, making sure Mt Smart is packed out every week with good ticketing offers, not overdoing the one-off jerseys, and investing heavily in pathways and lower grades. Hopefully this isn’t a false dawn like the Watson & Watson period, but geez it’s encouraging.
