The TV Fugly Awards or Fuglies, as they are affectionately known, were set up in 2002 to recognise television shows and personalities with awards in categories that TV Week magazine kept forgetting to add to their Logies voting form.

These alternative Australian television industry awards give a few people a good kick up the bum so that they can get their act together to produce entertaining telly.

The best bits about the Fuglies are that you don't have to buy a magazine to vote, voters can vote for whoever they want because they are not retricted by selected pre-nominees and there are categories that make you laugh.

As well as having categories that highlight the awful programs and stars, the TV Fugly Awards acknowledge some of good things about Aussie television with some fun and meaningful categories.

Now that voting has begun for the 2004 TV Fugly Awards, if you want to see a paticular televison star or program win a TV Fugly Award.

Have fun! I know I did...

2003 Winners (entire text below lifted from the Fugly website)

Below is the full list of categories, winners and top 5 nominees for the 2003 TV Fugly Awards. These results were gathered from 25,722 of Australia's most dedicated television viewers who took the opportunity to have their opinion heard during the 22 day voting period. The lucky winners of a TV Fugly Award can remember the honour of being part of Australian television history with a 100% genuine paper certificate printed on our office bubble jet.

Worst TV Show
It seems that Australian viewers might be a little tired of home/garden renovation shows. Channel Seven's Ground Force was awarded the dishonorable achievement of being the Worst TV Show in the last 12 months.

18% Comedy Inc (9)
10% Home and Away (7)
9% Big Brother (10)

Please Note: 21% of votes for this category were spread across another 60 television shows.

Worst Male TV Personality
Considering he didn't feature in the top fifty nominees of last year's event, Steve Liebman was shock winner of the certificate for Worst Male TV Personality. Our reasoning is that the our voters disliked him fronting the government's recent anti-terrorism advertising campaign.

13% Ray Martin (A Current Affair, 9)

64% Holly Valance
18% Bec Cartwright
4% Delta Goodrem

Please Note: 14% of votes not counted due to nominees being former Australian television personalities or overseas television personalities.

The 12 Australian celebrities viewers would have preferred to have seen in the Celebrity Big Brother house
Because Channel Ten's Celebrity Big Brother was: a) short on celebrities and b) short on entertainment, we felt that Australia's discerning television viewers could put together a great group of celebrity housemates.

Our voters choice of Aussie Celebs to appear in Celebrity Big Brother as housemates include:

- Steve Irwin
- Kath & Kim
- Kylie Minogue
- Russel Crowe
- Pauline Hanson
- Glenn Robbins
- Kate Langbroek
- Sophie Monk
- Richard Wilkins
- Mick Molloy
- Jim Wahley

Please Note: Another 483 Australian celebrities were nominated for inclusion in the TV Fugly Awards edition of Celebrity Big Brother.

Best Personality Who Appears on a Dodgy TV Show
It looks like the Fuglies voters would like to see Bert Newton put his talent and skills to use on a better show than Good Morning Australia.

40% Bert Newton (Good Morning Australia, 10)
14% Delta Goodrem (Neighbours, 10)
9% Joanna Griggs (7)

Most Under Acknowledged TV Show
The Fuglies are dedicated to doing more than just bagging the television industry. That's why each year we ask our voters to acknowledge shows that might not get the recognition that they deserve from the annual Logie Awards and the entertainment media in general. Overseas TV Show that you Wish Would Just Disappear
This category was created due to the flood of ordinary overseas television shows that the television networks continue to broadcast into our living rooms each night. This year it appears that not Everybody Loves Raymond as much as Channel Ten might think.

11% Ricki Lake (7)
9% The Bachelor (9)
