everyone seems to agree on the fact that alot of qld's success has come from them picking the same side for a number of years. imo its time nsw starts doing the same thing. they should try to stick with a side something like this

1.gidley/stewart
2.morris
3.morris
4.jennings
5.hayne
6.mullen
7.soward

8.galloway
9.ennis
10.weyman
11.o'donell
12.creagh
13.gallen

imo that backline has potential to be every bit as good as queenslands, if not better. and its a young backline.nsw selectors need to pick something similar to that and f**king stick with it!

Too much Gallen for my liking.
Honestly for all his talk about hating QLD, for all the stuff about Gallen being a player ideally suited to origin, has he ever played a decent origin match?

My future NSW team
1.Stewart
2.Morris
3.Idris
4.Jennings
5.Hayne
6.Soward
7.Mullen
8.Bailey
9.Ennis
10.Weyman
11.O'Donnell
12.creagh
13.Watmough

1. Stewart
2. Hayne
3. Jennings
4. Lawrence
5. B Morris
6. Campese
7. Soward
8. Learoyd-Lars
9. Farah
10. Poore
11. O'Donnell
12. Creagh
13. Stewart

14. Weyman
15. Laffranchi
16. Watmough
17. Gidley

Lawrence was the fourth guy in the race for a centre spot earlier in the year before getting hurt. (After Lyon, Jennings and Cooper). He's playing for a team that isn't performing. He's a solid defender and outstanding in attack. On a different team he'd be a real talent.

If Carney is available then that would probably still be the best halves combination (or one of)

Anyways...How far into the future are we looking here? :?

QLD are much better at identifying players and bringing them through than we are, that's what sets them apart. They don't go looking for youth, speed, form anything like that they just pick who they think the best players are and give them every opportunity to impress. NSW used to use a similar policy (they aren't as good but still did a much better job) but the policy of late seems to be picking the player who they perceive to be in form (Manly players have carried rep from last year's GF, just as the likes of Hoffman, Quinn carried), throw them in the deep end and when those players don't aim up they just pick someone else. Classic example of that would be selecting Mullen and Pearce (arguably two of our best halves prospects, although someone will probably harp on about form) to only play one match and have not even been in selection calculations since.

For any of these teams to be selected...NSW would need to get rid of the 4 stooges, which unfortunately won't happen.

The best path to a bright NSW future is to make your selectors and management history.

That's our problem, it won't happen, NSW seems hell bent on ensuring QLD continue to win the series.

Why cant we just pick our most experienced side of players who are still playing well. Kimmorley is not done with yet. He can still play next year. We need guys like Kimmorley, Luke Lewis, Bailey, Wing, Barrett, Hindmarsh, Waterhouse, etc. Guys who have been there and done that.

I find it ironic. The general critisism of selectors this year has been that they have not shown enough loyalty to players. Campese the main example. LAST year, the critisism of selectors was that they kept selecting players that "shouldnt" be there. "Buderus shouldnt have been selected, Hindmarsh shouldnt be selected he is too old" Etc etc." People on this forum seem to want selectors to pick players that are the flavour of the month.

Well now we have the selectors picking a side in the way that people on here wanted, and we are still 2 - 0 down. So now what?

This series has hopefully taught NSW something...you can't just throw a bunch of inexperienced blokes in on 'potential' alone.

You need Origin type players and you need some old hard heads. Not just the new kids on the block.

yeah he was awesome in his first few games. he hasnt been as good in the the last 2 in badly beaten teams, but he is the best lock in the comp. he will be there next year.
