So they plan to force him to honour the final year of his contract despite refusing to offer an extension? They are legally within their rights to do so.
There is zero chance the Tigers dont offer Api an offer to end his career with us and let him go elsewhere. He and TDS will have a smooth transfer of power over the next 3 years and it will be a thing of beauty.

Might depend on who takes over after Benji in 2026 for that to come to fruition.

It's IONGI ffs, although it's pronounced Yongi
At what point in time during my tenure here did you ever get the idea that I might be illiterate?
I'm well aware of that but that is what I'll be calling him hence forth.
I also call Joey, Dorothy after the first time he wore them shiny red boots and my Mother exclaimed that he was no longer in Kansas. Is that ok with you?

Next you'll be telling us your last name's not really Stoppafarty.

It's an even bigger risk than I first thought. I just had a look a Yongi's NSW cup stats and he defends at 76.2 %. That could be a problem and I'm now not entirely sure that there is much between Talagi and Yongi. Yongi could turn out worse with them numbers. 1 swallow does not a summer make.

Difference is Iongi will have to make almost no tackles as Ryles will have our defence fixed whereas Talagi was in the front line. Still think Talagi's tackle efficiency is only about 60%.

It’s a sad day, even though this decision will likely benefit both sides in the long term. Clint Gutherson deserves to be celebrated as one of the greatest Eels’ fullbacks, right up there with Thornett and Hayne. His determination, heart, and relentless leadership on the field have made him more than just a player – he’s been the soul of the team.
One of the shames about covid is it probably cost him the chance to represent Australia as well when he was at his peak which would have been great for his resume on his career here. Even if it was just 1 or 2 tests.

I am sure he would have got a spot in a 23-24 man squad during those hiatus years where the Kangaroos didn't play between 2020-2021.

Where lesser players like Nicho Hynes have had the chance to wear the Green and Gold a few times.

100%

People seem to forget Gutho almost won a Dally M in 2020, got beaten a pimple by Wighton.

Farwell My Liege. Overall I think it’s the best move for both parties in the long term but I do worry a bit for us next season without him.

Going to burn watching him in another jersey but I’ll be cheering him, except when he’s playing Parra of course.
