OK, time for some facts!

Since 1987 there have been 5 RUWC's. At least 80 nations have competed for places in the competition. while 23 maqtions have achieved that goal.

A total of 12 nations haved reached the quarter-finals, and a legitimate claim to a top 8 position. 4 more than the 8 you claim.

7 of the 8 "usual supects" have reached the semi-finals
5 of the 8 " tradditional powers" havee reachedd RUWC finalists.
4 of t5he 8 " tradiitional powers" have won the RUWC..

These facts show the movement among top RU nations is much more fluid tuan RL.

Addiitionally, 23 natiions, to date, have participated inj the ccurrent IRB World 7''s Serieies.

All in all, to question the development of RU is quite foolish!

If NZ has anything to do with it RU will never be as commercial as RL.

Fact: Unions top 8 teams haven't changed in years.

Fact: The elite Unions do nothing for the developing nations outside of a four yearly thrashing at the World Cup.

You can increase the numbers as much as you like, but until those nations actually show some improvement (which won't happen while the elite unions treat them like leppers) then the WC will remain the sole domain of the big 4 with the other 4 top 8 members a long shot from winning it.

AuckMel usually I find your post pretty balanced but this case it isnt. How does International league rate any better or even close to international union ? UNion may not have the depth of international soccer but it makes a mockery of international league.

Why do you guys have to compare League to Union everytime there is a debate about development?

But your mind set is to still compare with league or at least taking a swipe at union in the process. Look at it this way if we used the same anology with what you have siad about union and use it on cricket you would have to say your correct and no one would think the worst for it because there is no other code to compare it with. So why arent you putting down cricket ? development for upcoming nations is next to non existant but for every four years at a would cup. Your same argument applies!
