The future of woman's RL

"The festival welcomed more than 1500 participants across league tag and tackle formats"

Noteworthy phrase is "league tag and tackle formats". Participation is maximized when RL clubs present the game as a contact/non-contact package.

League Tag is possibly one of the factors producing superior NSW pathways over QLD. Spread the net wide, at the earliest age, and more talent is discovered and developed. Only a small percentage graduating from Tag to Tackle is required for success.

Rugby League is habitually depicted in the media as the final word in brutality. Most parents will want their daughters sticking with Netball and Soccer if their experience of RL is limited to watching NRL on TV.

Only seen highlights of under-19s Origin. Competitive game, looks as though the Blues were always in control.

Matter of time before someone gets injured in overly vigorous try celebrations.

Agreed. QLD will need to have a City vs Country selection game as they didn't look match fit compared to NSW.

Over the top and unnecessary.

Olive Connolly at Panthers TG looks a major prospect. Hails from Christchurch apparently. Quite a few Kiwis in NSW female junior rep squads. Let's hope this avenue averts more stories like Braxton Sorensen-McGee.

Mia Drescher of St. Helens played all 6 regular-season rounds for the Dolphins in the QLD Harvey Norman U-19s comp. Team won 3, lost 3. Worthwhile trip, it would appear.

Some suggestion young Aussies could make the return journey. Have to be honest, wouldn't expect reciprocal benefits to be equal.

Fran Goldthorp is probably our most successful export to NRLW hitherto. My mind keeps conflating the names into Fran Drescher who had a small part in Saturday Night Fever.

The preceding post alluded to a recently-mooted Saints/Dolphins U-19s exchange programme.

In fact, Wigan had 5 Australians in their open-age WSL squad last year. Alongside Rease Casey were Shaniah Power, Emily Veivers, Remi Wilton, Tiana Power.

Eels v Bulldogs Lisa Fiaola Cup this Saturday. Both teams 7 from 7. Final regular-season round. Please tell me there won't be any resting players shenanigans. Not at under-17s level.

Encouraging first season of Lisa Fiaola Cup for the Storm. Won 4, drew 1, lost 3.

Final on Saturday v Sharks. They won the corresponding regular-season game 48-0.

Woman's league still treated abhorrently. Apparently it rained in Narrabeen on Friday night, so the grounds were wet. Both girls games got cancelled (no bearing on the table so no point playing apparently), but all 3 men's games went ahead.

Storm 27 Sharks 26. Slightly narrower margin of victory this time.

Think that might be it for the Storm in Lisa Fiaola Cup this year. Next up is a semi v Bulldogs.

Presumably the bulk of this squad will progress into Tarsha Gale Cup. Where do they go thereafter?
