The Gidley Captaincy problem

Does anyone else agree that NSW selectors have created a rod for their back by making Gidley captain?

There is no question that Hayne should be fullback, and I would be staggered if the selectors didn't agree. But they can't move him there because it would mean Gidley would have to go to the bench and you can't do that to the captain - apart from the fact that it would make the selectors look pretty stupid.

And this is not meant to bag Gidley. He must be in the squad and thought he was okay last night - but he is not our best fullback option. He would be great coming off the bench like Craig Wing did in Game 1 and opening up Qld up the guts.

But it seems they are hamstrung by the c next to his name.

i dont think he is captian material. he always looks stressed out and cracked under pressure in game 1.

problem is i dont know who else would be?

should come back to the old saying 'pick a team then pick a captain'

nsw seemed to have already picked the captain, then picked a team around him

he always looks stressed

yes thats exactly what I can see also and Iv always though that in SOO a captain should be in the forwards in and around the blokes and always in the thick of things showing the rest of the guys how its done this is what a captain does, its hard to have this kind of influence when you are some what detached from the hard stuff playing in the back and not just the back but the furthest player from all the action.

Dont know thats just how I see it, I do feel sorry for gids ,he f**ked up in the last minutes of origin 1 and also failed a few conversions which could have seen NSW level the score board at one stage, gallen or barret would have been better leaders

Gidley is not captaincy material, and I wish the farkin selectors would open their eyes and stop picking Knights players as captain.

NSW dont have a leader.....
I wonder... IF (and yes, it is a big 'if), Brett Stewart didn't get involved in the alcohol incident this year, and if he wasn't sidelined through surgery, would he have played fullback? If so, would Gidley have played? Would he have been captain? Who would've been captain in Gidley's absence last night?

Brett stewert was on fire again this year we was the NSW full back until all the incidents, if he was the fullback gids would have come off the bench and played the role which wing played in SOO 1 ,BTW NSW's best moment of the series so far was when wing came off the bench he was all over the tired QLD's ,if he was in game 2 he would have been more damaging because the QLDs in the second half last night were more tired than in game one when wing carved them up.

I think Gidley definitely needs to be in the squad but agree with Forward pass that we are probably best suited with him coming from the bench and Hayne at the back. Does pose the strange question of who would be the captain though. If Barret were to retain his spot you'd have to think it would be him.
