i have seen players carried back 10-15 metres in a gang tackle. No different to Brett being thrown over the sidline from 10-15m in field.
As i said, Harrigan and Tallis had a history so i dont think Harrigan was showing any favouritism.

True momentum hadnt stopped, HOWEVER how often do you see when 2 or 3 players lift a player up and then proceed to carry him backwards only for the refs to start yelling 'Held!'

I'd be willing to bet that if it happened again a penalty would be the result.

Personally i dont agree with it at all, as far as im concerned as long as momentum hasnt stopped your fair game... however i think refs and the NRL as a whole are trying to deter a growing trend of gang tackling.

Balmain bug,

Comparing the Ragdoll to the moth is a complete joke. Ragdoll's moment of truth came when he was stranded on his little lonesome in Origin and got dragged into the fence. Anyone can look great off MArshall and Prince line break assists...which is all Ragdoll did...run off the halves. He cant break tackles, he is a weaker defender statistically, but he is a better goalkicker. Unfortunately goalkicking doesnt make him better than anyone.

The Ragdoll is a decent fullback, he always was, but to compare him the the Moth is ridiculous. The Moth is easily the superior player.
whilst i think melon is being tough on hodgson, i agree that he was made look outstanding by prince & marshall providing fabulous gap passes & wonderful second-man plays. i think he's a good fullback, but marshall & prince made him look better.

Not necessarily, Hodgson had a great year in 2001 and i wouldnt call Buettner and Jason Taylor world halves combo.

jason taylor had only two attributes.
1) fantastic goalkicker
2) oustanding passing game

buettner had his moments but was fairly standard for a 1st grader.

i don't recall hodgson making anywhere near the amount of long runs in '01 as '05.

my opinion of course.

I suppose people have different views. I actually think Hodgo helps Prince and Marshall. If anything I think Hodgo and Farah make our halves look better. In close games this year it was Hodgo who would usually come up with the big play for us. Once we kicked 10-12 ahead then the Benji and Prince show took full flight.

Hodgson had a fantastic, if not better, season last year and that was without Benji and with a less confident Prince.

fair enough

i think he had breaks presented to him predominantly by run-around & second-man plays courtesy of the halves.

Its his speed off the mark that is his greatest assest. See the game at OKI for our first try when he split them from dummyhalf (sorry to remind you lol).

LOL!

i'm not suggesting that he didn't score any tries courtesy of his own skill. he is very elusive.

i just think he scored mainly from good halves play.

regardless, melon was being a little harsh.

I don't think anyone is suggesting bias. More likely, the reference is to the fact it happened in an origin game, which are refs are known to let a bit more go.

I think it would have been a penalty in a normal match. How many times do you see players trying to drag someone toward the sideline get penalised? Very often.

I couldnt disagree more with ya.....Hodgo makes his breaks and puts Benji and Prince into space....not vice versa.

I think Hodgo(closely followed by Farah) is our most dangerous attacking weapon.By the comments on here Id say he has slipped under the radar, which is great.Underestimate him cos of his size at yer own peril.

Cheers.
