the panthers game was another step towards our teams confidence,i said after last weeks win that the boys would now have the confidence to come back when they are 12 points down with 15 to go,and to see them do it again is another big step, especially against the premiers.

.
Especially when you consider the momentum the Pennys had after Gaulavo's try, they had the fire up from that ( I thought the flood gates would open) superb effort to get back into it..

Positives

Prince and Fitzy both worked hard in attack and defence and didn't stop all game

Skando well he came out and wanted to show everyone that he is a good prop just hope we resign him before june 30 thats all :?

Grahme well I didn't think he played all that poorly to be honest his defence was great - he appeared to be one of few Wests Tigers players who actually tackle around the legs and well he started to try and look for holes and run through them

Our scrambling defence yet again was great and the defence on the line yet again showed that we are one of the best defensive units running around in the game at the moment

Over the last 2 weeks we have started to show depth in the backline and we are using it as well something you would just dream about last year even

Our fighting spirit well to come back from 12pts behind with about 10mins to go is a great effort and to have the chance to win the match on top of that is an even better effort

Galea had his best game for some time and is starting look like he did a few years ago

I dont think any one or two players were the reason we lost. The guys gave their all and alot of the good we did in attack was because we were prepared to throw the ball about in attack and chance our arm.I think Hodgson putting down that Sattler offload was good to see cuz at times this year have looked too pedestrian in attack and to see them trying somthing a little risky was a good sign even thought it was a dropped ball.Confidence is growing and those passes will stick on another day.

The Tigers do scramble very well, but they have to do it far too often. Very commendable effort there nonetheless. A for effort.

Prince did many good things, but did you notice they were mostly when out wider. Not a 1/2 (can't even feed a scrum). Maybe Fitz as a 7 with a roving commission and Prince in the 6 where he clearly belongs. Fitz can then play a similar role to Drew at the Riaders (with some obvious differences) and do a lot of interchanging with who ever is in the 9.

Centre's defence was dire. Wilson was very ordinary. Aimed up at fresh air and tackled it for Swain's try. Even almost bombed the first try by slowing and trying to bump off Wesser with the ball carrying arm instead of changing over to the right, going for the line and using the left to fend. Lots of dropped ball from these too as well, including Wilson's simple spill for Roberts 2nd.

At least the Tiger's forwards kept up with the Panthers pack. I think the Pennies shaded them, but not by much and in the end this was probably the difference. They just had too many impact guys up front. When Skando went off, so to did the go forward to a noticeable degree. All tried hard but just weren't as damaging as their opposites.

Compare this game to the one at Penrith last year, when were completely outmuscled and dominated. Our forwards muscled up and there wasnt a struck match between the two packs IMHO...

Very encouraging, and we still have Senter and Payten to toughen it up.....

I agree about Payton mate. I know Boof is only just back, but surely on last night you can all see he isn't ever going to give you a real front rowers impact. He's a good back rower. So who should make room for him? I think Galea did well, and really the smart move would have him complimenting Lima on the bench, not replacing him. That way you can always have an old hand and youngster on at front row throughout the game.

Yeah, love Boof but he just doesnt have the oomph for front row IMHO.He COULD be a great ball playing backrower, got some nice offlloads away laat night.Id defintely start with a Payten/Senter/Skandy from row if all hands were on deck.

Then you would have one hell of a bench with Lima,Gibbs,Boof and co.
