Rock band or not, Nirvana aren't in the class of Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin or Queen.

I think its pretty obvious that they are, considering 30% of people on this forum classify them as the best rock band of all time ;-)

Nirvana were a grunge band. They were the death of rock music. Cobain actually refers to them as punk rock. I mean I don't mind them actually, I like Lithium & come as you are...but geeez they're around for 3 years before Love killed Cobain, and you guys think they're the greatest thing ever. Cobain couldn't even play the friggin guitar!!! Bar chords..yay. :roll:

If Cold Chisel win that will be the final straw...this band couldn't even get a gig over seas because they where that crap and now there being voted as one of the best bands ever along side Led Zepplin???....if the band hasn't sold atleast 3 million albums they shouldn't be allowed into some a prestigous contest!!

i voted for acca dacca!!!!! oh yeah! aussie and they rock! nothing beats that. i prefer them to led zep anyway, they are famed for stairway to heaven but oh my god that song is boring as hell! until the closing rock out anyway, if kashmir didnt go for 12 hours itd be an awesome song too :lol:

come on!!!!! even foo fighters (my second favourite band!!!) are better than Nirvana!!!!!!! it doesnt take a great band to do what Nirvana did i.e. just headbang and sing and play like shit.

-Quality of music?
-Quality of songwriting?
-how they were influential to society?

-how good they were live?
-How many albums they have produced?
-Originality?

If the band can posses many of the above then they are worthy of being labelled or there about's the best. Record sales are important as it shows how many people can relate to the band....which obviously makes them a great band to have such a gift.
