The grand plan

There's some key differences but you certainly have a point!

Yeah, the big difference/elephant in the room is the clash in mindset (and indeed a clash in business model) between the "closed shop" model we have in the NRL and the British tradition of promotion/relegation.

The NRL has a certainty of footprint that makes long term planning far easier.

The RFL getting the Championship and League 1 to merge will make it a bit easier for the NRL to approach this, because the new 2nd tier creates a geographically diverse breeding ground for top-tier hopefuls, that could maybe even be used to develop teams in Scotland, Ireland, continental Europe and North America

The main difference is it was a SL war, 2 groups fighting against each other tearing the game apart.

This is a collaborative effort and is targeted at the removal of self interest and instead move in a direction that is beneficial to the game.

Hmm so we're targeting the worst economic areas in a broader basket case economy.

At the same time that US sports are aggressively moving with a petty cash allowance that could buy the entire nrl tomorrow.

Genius! This is going to work out soooo well.

The "beneficial to the game" is just a different self interest. There's no inherent benevolence to getting your professional sport to make more money (predominantly from gambling).

So you've failed from the outset to remove self interest. Any claim to the contrary is utter bull. This is just code war self interest instead of club self interest because that's more important to you.

So then this convenient lie is really selling that a collaboration being in everyone's self interest... which is unlikely and high risk as it requires a significant leap in revenue in a saturated market.

And even if that happens it is inevitable that there is a misalignment between revenue generation and and grant attribution and you've neatly set the league up into groups which can quickly just roll out of the comp.

Such a terrible take.
I wouldn't know where to start.

This is just the rambling of a disenfranchised malcontent.
Makes no sense and is mostly a contradiction of itself.

North England and southern France are going to switch from league to NFL. Good call.

Ahh but I thought you were growing the game.

So now we're just spending money to keep it stagnant?

Nice the ideas even dumber than before.

Also the idea was you get this great revenue boost (how hasn't really been explained).

Nfl doesn't need people to play, they want the eyeballs. Which presumably was part of our genius plan to make rivers of gold flow?

But now I know the plan is for zero growth with magic revenue it's all so obvious.

Then refute it.

Demonstrate how it has no self interest

Demonstrate the benevolence

And explain why as the earning vs attribution gap grows it won't split.

Oh that would require logic something the code bros don't have in abundance.

Union troll
So for you it is about a code war.

Ergo it is a (terrible) plan you support from a position of self interest.

On union. Meh I'd struggle to name 10 wallabies I've just seen a laundry list of better run companies dust capital thinking offshore expansion into a bigger market is easy.

refute what?
First I have to make sense of it, which I can't.
And I can't make sense of this post either..

If you have a point, make it clear what it is.
Then I'll either refute the claim or affirm it.

Ashes does good business as currently seen. Strengthening English game will allow this to continue and potentially grow. Notice AFL talking about reviving state of origin and international series. More products to sell to broadcast partners.

Sport is like a business, grow or perish.
