Because the nswrl took on all other sports in nsw and qld whilst the northern union let welsh clubs die off and ignored Manchester which was a rugby city

Even your club didn’t come over until union was failing in the north and it was better for them in the northern union
sht your talking 125 years ago lol

I get a feeling that all this signaling for SL owners and operators is all just a little show.

When you're selling a car, you have a price in mind that you'll take for it right then and there.. but you don't let them know that!
It's your prized possession! Your love and joy! You don't even think you could possibly let it go !!

Meanwhile, you know full well that it uses too much fuel got too many km's on the clock and you've noticed a couple of oil drops on the driveway, it's sluggish on the highway and the AC needs a re- gas.. with summer fast approaching!
You want the f**king thing gone!

It's just that these operators in the UK are actually that stupid. Treating the NRL like an 18 year old buying his first car..lol .
Any wonder the game is going to shit over there. A bunch of 2 bob used car salesman.
at the moment it’s like expecting you to buy a car without giving you the price or any details of the make and year of the car!
Sht or get off the pot Vlandys, still no offer tabled, why?

as Lakin said he’d rather Abdo was flying over to do the last 20% of the negotiation, not the first 20%.

Competing with premier league is irrelevant

soccer took over Mid 1900s

we don’t compete with soccer or afl or union because we took them on and defeated them

English leagues current situation is of its own making

And you had an awful Super League something AFL, Oz Union and Soccer have never had.

They would rather the SL die than have success being run by the NRL….

I don’t recall the Leeds bloke saying how much money he wants either…

Can’t read the full article as unsubscribed …but the part I can see ..His biggest concern is what the League is going to be called …😂….fair dinkum

What I get from you and other posters here is this sense of patriotism, you're siding with them cause they're English.
We've got nothing against English mate, it's the specific Peanuts who's self interest has run the game to the curb over there. I'm an Aussie but a well traveled one and to be honest I'm not chuffed with Aussies either, it's just that the ones running RL here seem to be pretty f**king good at it.

Stop siding with people because they are your nationality, some of them are idiots.

If there some smart business people in the UK that can run RL there , great! Get them!
The one's currently are the opposite of that!

please stop siding with loss making, self destructive, self interested arse holes that have the game there in a doom loop.

There's been no offer, so what? There will be!
The fact that these people are death riding it before an offer tells you nothing good about them or their intentions!

They expect the NRL to give them a pile of money … but nothing to change .. don’t even think about calling it the NRL..

Interesting they all have that “oh the Premier League is too powerful” excuse to cry about as well … what’s the freaking point then of handing them hundreds of millions

The point is the game, these people are demanding a toll in order for the game to move forward.

The NRL want the game to move forward, not just in Australia, but PNG, NZ and even the Northern hemisphere. There's no specific place that the NRL are loyal too- they are loyal to the game and it's growth globally.

The question for the NRL is always where they can push the game forward the most for what it invests. That's the cost equation.
There's tremendous growth potential in Europe for the game, there's a price point that reflects this potential and that is what they're working through. If that doesn't match then the game will focus on other areas or work around the gate keepers in the UK.

It’s great to have lofty ambitions to spread and grow the game in Europe .. They should have that as an aim …

Looking at the present moment though … getting these two to agree a deal right now ( it needs to be done in 2-3 months) seems to me unrealistic…one side would need to be very motivated ..perhaps the timing isn’t great for the NRL with the ESL coming off a good 12 months and no doubt they think they can grow their TV deal on their own ..

If the NRL can’t get a deal on their terms which seems unlikely to me … they should pack it in and focus on their own Broadcast deal and be primarily focused on keeping their own shareholders ( clubs ) and players happy. they can try again a few years down the track with more time for negotiations prior to the following Broadcast deal

It’s not his job to grow league everywhere or squander money that should go to juniors or clubs

nrl will only be putting in small money if anything

and until league dominates in Australia nz and the pacific islands his focus should be here

I suspect that other than a better English tv deal and maybe no more relegation (toulose and London especially need to be protected) little will actually change in England if this does go the rough

NZ2 and 3 with full pathways has to be locked in for the strategic plan moving forward.

There's a 3 month timeframe they've given this, so we should too.
Don't let the head fake fool you, SL clubs want this too and that's all of them. They all run at a loss- this deal will make them all profitable from day one.

It's just a negotiating point as to how profitable they can become from this investment.

"not his job to grow league everywhere"

Yes it is, there's no ours and yours and I'll keep mine and focus on me and you do you..

It's ONE game.
Those local juniors hope to pull on the Kangaroos jumper some day, who do you suppose they play? Themselves?

We need to grow the game everywhere, I'm very grateful that we have an administration that excepts the responsibility.

The primary focus of the NRL is running a club competition in Australasia on behalf of the soon to be 19 clubs…

3 months is not a lot of time …

The ESL might run at a loss …but all the Pommie I see are very optimistic about the future of their game…. At the end of the day …The terms have got to make sense to the NRL too…it’s not just about handing over a pile of cash and nothing changing which is what they seem to expect

Nah

the clubs and the rlpa will get him sacked if he loses focus on his primary role

If he didn’t believe helping England would make us more money too he wouldn’t be doing it

we don’t need England for test matches they need us

we’ve developed nz tonga samoa Fiji and png

they don’t even want to play France in tests
