The great Origin refereeing controversy

I can't post in the management area for some reason.

However, half ought to know that the discussion in the Queensland Dressing Shed BEFORE THE SCORES WENT UP was that his article was going to lose the game for NSW.

It was generally agreed that all we had to do was to get our 7 articles in as "half has done a Hodges".

As to Gorilla's ability to pick up the nuances of a particular article, in some ways mine could be considered as 'obtuse' but he was able to see it for what it is and it scored highly. I've never been refereed by Gorilla before but he obviously didn't get selected to ref the rep game because of incompetence.

Writing is a personal work and our articles are treasured. The lowest competition score I've received was for an article that was particularly 'dear' to me, entitled "The Bird". However, it too might have been to obtuse to score well. So be it. I had to accept the referee's decision and move on.

Half, if I were you I'd use this as an incentive to ascribe to a standard of excellence for the rest of the season. You won't be vindicated via a slanging match with a referee.

From the management forum.

The critism of referees is starting to become boring to be honest. I have read the article in question, and frankly I don't see where there is improvement for a higher mark. Sure it's well written, but it is barely league related, (and yes I did get it) Gorilla expressed much the same opinion. Again I can only reinforce what most here have already said. Certainly calling him stupid is not acceptable, and I think an appology is in order. If you have a complaint keep it to PM's whinging on the open forum does nothing to strengthen your case and frankly comes across as grandstanding. Every referee sees an article differently, I don't see that changing, even if there were a structured marking system in place, in the end it will come down to each refs interpretation of the system. It's up to the writer to check out previous games and write accordingly to that particular refs preference. The same thing applies in any competition. ask the refs and players in the real game.

Thats because you're not in the F7s management user group. If you have something you wish to say there, take it through your captain which in this case would be Pistol.

If Pistol doesnt have access there and wishes to add something, I'll make it so he can do so for the duration. Although I would like to think this has now passed.

I would think that's information confidential to the Qld team.

There's a reason why the thread was moved and the other one locked. It was to bring an end to this storm in a tea cup.

It is primarily between the player, the captain(s) and the referee. Currently, it looks to have been sorted out by PM.

In my opinion, starting up new thread about it serves no purpose.

The discussion in the sheds is confidential and was irrelevent to the issues half made.

The issues half raised were not with Queensland or any member of the side, which is the way I would like it to stay.

As far as I am concerned or any member of the Queensland side, I am looking forward to the next round of the forum 7's.

strictly talking from a league perspective, my article is about the emotions a hot new player can generate in someone long disillusioned with their stagnant team
