The Gus "I said it....." Tracker.

Can this be a running thread used to record instances when Gus says "I said it........." (eg I said it at Origin time, big backs win matches, I said it before the game, players will find it hard on this slippery surface). I think you'll find the tally will add up quickly if you include his appearances on the roast as well as his commentary during games. I've counted 2 so far tonight.

4 tonight, there was another "I said it" in the post match wrap up. I also laughed when he said "If anyone should know , I should". Then he kind of paused for a bit. I think he realized what he just said and was trying to pull out of it. I did however like the way he talked about Schifcofske going to Union. He said he was shattered and spoke about it as though he was joining some crazy new age cult. Gus may be beyond disliking Union, I actually don't think he aknowleges it as a sport.

I guess some people might argue that him saying those things makes him an arrogant know all. I don't know if you would say it either if you'd made a good prediction. You'd probably put "I don't mean to say I told you so" or something else like that in front of it.

Funny, isn't it, how Gus always says "I said it" after something happens, rather than saying it before it happens.

Never mind about an "I said it" tracker. Lets work on an "I" tracker. His is the most incredibly self centered commentary I have ever heard. Every single comment is Gus talking about Gus. "I said" this, "I don't like" that, "I've always thought" whatever. I know he is meant to be the personality commentator but he just makes himself sound like an ill-informed, self-centered, arrogant merkin.

Might be something in that.

Ok how about we categorize it:

Category 1: Rants about the stripping rule
Category 2: Rants about how play would of continued if the Video Ref wasn't there.
Category 3: Angry reactions at soft penalties for high shots.
Category 4: Bringing up Previous predictions
Category 5: A variety of "I" type comments.

Category 6: Says "see, we shouldn't be going to the video ref for these kind of decisions, that was obvious" - after he has seen the footage in question, remaining silent beforehand.

One thing about Gould is he gets it right most of the time. If he didn't, There are dozens of people on this forum alone waiting to tear him down, but he rarely gives them an oppertunity.

exactly!! at least hes not talking out of his arse. he knows the game. and i think hes a good sport...when he jumped off the diving board etc etc if his ego was THAT massive he wouldnt put himself in a position where he could look as foolish as he did :lol:

Gould is a Rugby League brain and a real personality.
Not afraid to talk his mind, which is refreshing when you hear the inane garbage being spewed from Ray Warren's mouth.

Gould adds a lot to the game, I hope he's around for a long time!
