I can only describe him as the most immense cricketer ive ever seen. He scores a mountain of runs on a consistent basis, bowls a few world class spells of swing bowling to take vital wickets, and he also catches brilliantly.
And quite often like in this test he'll do it all in the same match.
For some reason he cops alot of stick. But in the 140 odd years of test cricket there's only been one other cricketer like him.
He really has served his country really well as well as world cricket. I haven't seen someone criticised so much with his record but he hasn't let it get in his way and he will join a group of his own i getting 10,000 runs and 250 wickets so I congratulate him and hopefully he still has a few more years left in our game.
Hopefully I get towatch him play again as it has been a priveledge watching him perform for so many years.
I have to disagree there PB. They are in good hands with Duminy coming in to replace him but they look very strong for years to come. However, his presence will be sorely missed.
Hes not in that class, but he is one of the best all rounders i've seen.
But the reason he cops stick is because, despite his great record especially with the bat, he sometimes doesnt impose himself on an innings like other great batsman can do, both in one dayers and tests.
His S/R in test cricket isn't even that bad not that it matters but then you get idiots like Hogg and Stackpole running their mouths despite the fact that they were average players.
This 57 was one of his best imo. He came in under pressure having just lost Amla and he swung the momentum back in South Africa's favour before stumps and set up victory with AB De Villiers and his spell of 3/24 shouldn't go un-noticed as well as well as his faultless display in the slips.
