The Knightmare Draw...will it make us or break us?

Having taken a look at the Knights draw, then recovering and returning myself to my feet it occurred to me that we are either going to go downhill very quickly this year or we will build and become a tough seasoned side.

For those of you who don’t know we play:

Penrith (Away)
Melbourne(Away)
Parramatta (Away)
St George (Away)
New Zealand (Away)
Roosters (Home)
Canberra (Away)
Souths (Home) YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fodder game.
Bulldogs (Home)
Brisbane (Away)
Melbourne(Home)
Parramatta (Home)
Cowboys (Away)
Roosters (Away)
Manly(Home)
Sharks(Home)
Broncos(Home)
Cowboys(Home)
Souths(Away)
Manly(Away)
StGeorge(Home)
Canterbury(Away)
Wests(Home)

RND 11 & 18 are byes

Our first 7 games are all very very tough games, I am worried that we haven’t had enough tough trial games to build up to that run. If we lose pace early in the comp, we can catch up later because our run home is relatively easy. I just hope we haven’t lost it by that stage because of the pressure. What is also worrying me is that once the hard run is over with, the rep season starts which will test our depth and make some of the easier games hard to win.

Penrith have had some tough games to warm them up, i am very worried about that game.

What do you guys think, how will we cope? Will they stand up early or not?

I have got no idea what will happen, i cant tell either way. It would be a good result i think to win 3 or 4 of the first 7.

Despite a tough start to the season, I think we will finish well because of the easy run home. We play the 'easy' teams like Souths twice, and miss out on playing Penrith, New Zealand, and Canberra twice by the looks of it. Plus this year we play the Broncos at Marathon, where we always smash them, and we didn't get that chance last year. All in all I think it will be a good year for us, barring injuries.

If we are in the middle of the table at the halfway point we will be sweet. The real bad news is that the rep games start just when we will be getting over all our away games - si if we get a lot of rep players this year we will be really stretched till about the final third of the comp.

We'll be fine.

I'm tipping that we can win at least 3 of the first 5 rounds.

It's even a possibility we can all 5.

The Knights are confidant and raring to go this year, and after hearing from Ken Conway, I know that the team as a whole is fitter than it's ever been.

Here's to a big year for the Knights.

Really..the only easy wins should be souths
we can account for Penrith[let them slip last year]
Melbourne PPPFFFTTTT!
Eels -Should
Dragons-No
Warriors -over there is fine
Goosters- home game and rearing to go-A win
So we should get a win 4 or 5 of the first 6 games ...SWEET! :D

If we are at all real contenders, and I am certain we are, a tough start while everyone is fired up and hopefully fit is not so bad. Sure our opposition will be in the same mood but our superior attacking skills will prevail :D :D .
It will certainly be a good indication of our chances for the year and if we have a good outcome in general in those early rounds confidence and intimidation factor will be awesome.

I think the Storm, Parra, and Warriors games are good bets for us to win, Penrith and the Dragons are 50 50 bets I think, we always seem to struggle against the Dragons in recent years. While the Warriors are our bunnies at the moment. Having said that watch the Warriors come out and flog us now!  I think we are a good chance of winning 3 possibly 4 of our first five games. We are specials to do the Goosters in the first home game.

I can remember other situations where teams have been forced because of stadium unavailability to play an extended away run at the start of the season. From memory, Canterbury were the last to do so and it moulded that team into a group that virtually never lost on the road ( though they had problems at home ). I really hope that is the positive that we get from an otherwise terrible position. One thing is for sure, if we can do well early and sustain a good effort in the middle we will play ourselves into form by the semis.

BTW - I cannot believe the comment I placed against the Canterbury home game in the initial thread post was removed, that was a bit of fun. Stop being so bloody self-righteous and politically correct, this is Australia, pulling the piss is my birth right....for the record the caption stated "Lock up your daughters" and it was FUNNY. It may have been in bad taste, but I don’t share the persons tastes that removed it either, and I would not delete posts that I don’t agree with. I can understand things being removed because of litigation, but lets not start in with the moral grandstanding, it sickens the shit out of me.

I don’t remember a crass sense of humour check box on the membership form to sift us out.

Pando, I have no idea who removed it, or why, whoever it was is supposed to notify you by PM, or put an explanation in the thread. Please accept the appology.

*Note* Whoever removed this should explain please.

take into account voodoo teams, warriors should struggle to beat us, we always have it over them, similarly a fully fit dragons will be ahrd to beat, esp for us, if we win the first one or two we shud win 4 or 5 from 6, but if we lose teh first two i can see us being about 3 from 10, all about momentum and confidence, and getting that with 5 away games is hard work.

Key statement right there: I think if we are real contenders, we won't be worried by the big boys, let alone the wooden-spoon contenders.

We've got a darn good side this year, and barring injuries we'll be cruising along somewhere in the top 8 by finals time.

The run home after Brisbane:

Cowboys(Home)
Souths(Away)
Manly(Away)
StGeorge(Home)
Canterbury(Away)
Wests(Home)

At least 5/6, if not 6/6 on the way home in my opinion - but it remains to be seen which teams will fire, which ones will be injured, and which ones won't let injuries worry them.

I believe the Knights are contenders - if I'm right then they shouldn't spend too much time worrying about the draw, as much as worrying about keeping their team together for the season.
