Nrl dwarfs any other rugby club competition and is growing rapidly

the first goal will be domination of the South Pacific before they worry about being big globally

You’ve got English club union which is a basketcase. France is semi decent but it’s tv deal is less than one third ours it’s tiny
Unfortunately how big or small the French TV deal is, is completely irrelevant

It is a tough one, but I'll guarantee you this.....the name IS an issue in regard to recognition of what our sport looks like. I come from a non-English background. The vast majority of people I have known would think of union rather than our game when they hear the "rugby" name.

Maybe brand the NRL name heavily.....kinda like what the UFC has done with mixed martial arts.
The French have it right IMO... Rugby 13's. It retains the Rugby heritage but the 13 is a better way to express that it is distinct from 15s and 7s

Cant say that works either

We differentiate Union and League by those simple words

Even NRL only applies to a single worldwide comp after 1997

So what is Union called in France Rugby 15s??, dont think so, as Union 7s is called Rugby 7s everywhere

It give us the position of a rebel sport, not a standalone sport

Even the F in NSWRFL was dropped in Australia

When did NSW get the F out?

In the 90s union went to calling itself rugby and stupid league fans followed them

now they want to make it worse by eradicating our history

Maybe we should bring back the f so people In foreign markets will think it’s soccer and then realise it’s much better

No one new to our sport would care who the governing body is, but they will be clearer than they are now that its a different variation of Rugby (just like they can differentiate 7's because of the name (and on field differences, of course).

For example the Japanese Rugby League, is a Union competition. You can't make that mistake with Rugby 13's.
