The Las Vegas Thread

It`s hilarious, I gather they`re talking about putting on all their marquee matches on at the same time to counter Vegas and no matter what they do it`s still going to be drowned out by Vegas. Channel 7 will be back there next year possibly with a whole team, wouldn`t it be great if the NRL made them extra welcome so there was loads of Seven coverage all week.
And we`ll still have all our marquee matches left because we don`t need to waste them in Vegas.
Poor fumbles, they just got to realise you can`t compete with international coverage, small isolated country like Oz it`s natural we crave a bit of international recognition.

All the Aussie rules talk is about counter acting.
In War Talk, the ones counter acting means they are losing the war.
They use "positive propoganda" talk to reassure their constituents, and they in turn go away thinking all is fine.

I really had no idea that they were so flummoxed about Las Vegas and the NRL, but here we are.
It's a little amusing.

MLS final last year got 470k (down from over 800k lol) and nrl is already close to that figure

And their average is under 200k a game and their tv deal is 250 million pa

That’s what a tiny portion of the us sporting market is worth
Reading that and seeing the reaction to the Vegas venture makes me realise the potential of a professional Rugby League competition in America with NRL backing. I don`t think that UFC boss who said Rugby League could be huge in America was joking.

I noticed on the smh website the bandana yawnion muppet has again bagged the Vegas venture without even mentioning his own sport in the article.
Only way he gets people to read his articles is to talk about League.
He did mention the waratahs the other day though, bagged the type of football they were playing despite winning and basically conceded they won`t compete with League if they insist on that style of play, winning or not it is an eyesore. Harsh words, he sounded depressed.

He writes more articles about league than union these days which tells you who’s getting than marketing right.
Wow!! I just went over and read it, it really is eating him up. And this so-called man-of-the -people (remember hospitals and schools not (NRL) stadiums) never fails to reveal his true colours calling people who gamble "losers".
No comments section either, only sad merkin journalist I`ve ever seen who responds to people in his comments section.
f**k I love seeing that fool suffer.

I still reckon an NRL team in the US would be worth a shot. even is it folds, it would make an impression.

- Based in Hawaii: this wouldnt be all that much crazier than Perth (+1 mil population, different time zone long flight, no established local support) but with a much bigger upside

-Based on the West Coast: this would be the crazy one, but it would be insane if it works. If you could make this work, it’s straight up double the value of the competition.

Not True
Someone in the comments wants the opening round held in India (because they are Cricket mad (WTF))
China hasn't worked out as we wanted but if just 0.1% of Indians watch a game for just 10 minutes each we will have an international sport.

Works in with the Pacific security stuff as well, our ties to America and relatively close to the Islands as well. Great team to take to Vegas weekend or play some of their games out of the West Coast USA. Getting a 30k stadium as well I heard. Interesting.
