DOGS SIGN NGAWINIThe Mitsubishi Electric Bulldogs have signed 24 year-old Billy Ngawini for the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Ngawini played for the North Sydney Bears in the 2005 Premier League team with fellow 2006 Bulldogs recruits Chris Tuatara and Namila Davui.

Ngawini was born in Samoa but moved to New Zealand to further his rugby union career. He secured a four year contract with the Chiefs Super 12 franchise and in 2001 was selected in the All Black Sevens training squad with the likes of Eric Rush and Joe Rokocoko.

He moved to Sydney and played rugby league for the Asquith Magpies in the North Sydney District Junior Rugby League Association in the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

Ngawini played hooker for the Bears this season but Bulldogs recruitment and development manager Mark Hughes believes his future lies in the halves.

I'll make it easier for everyone :D

From the unfortunate place that is The Kennel...

Jon Green
He is perth lad.
Signed by the Sharks 2 -3 years ago

Hurt his knee last season and missed most of 2004.
Has played well for Newtown this season, considering his knee would still be 6 months off full blown recovery.
Personally I rate him a better prospect than Galloway - They even look alike.

Jamie Small
Apparently ment to sign with Penrith
Very handy prop, better then Chris Armit

Ben Roberts
handy player
got a good kicking game
very raw though
can make some crucial mistakes
but under a good bit of guidance could go alright

Just got some more words on Small from "Mighty Tiger"

"Small was going to go to the Panthers but they withdrew the offer about 1-2 weeks ago as he failed a fitness test on a special request (stupid idea because he was injured and they knew that before they said they would sign him), Small signed with Bulldogs on Tuesday

Regarding the playing style

Small is a tough workhorse prop who isn't the biggest bloke on the field but runs 100MPH with and without the ball in hand, only problem is he doesn't have the bets ankles going around which isn't good for props - Put it this way Wests Tigers fans have been trying to see him get a run for a few years now and he always for some reason gets overlooked by Sheens (always relayed it to his size which is BS IMO)

On Roberts Yappy would be able to give you more of a rundown but he appears to have been around for years now and the kid has talent, I have no doubts he has NRL all over him but at the end of the day with Benji and Prince infront of him he wouldn't find it easy to get a run with the Wests Tigers to be honest - he is a good pickup IMO"

I just got word on the two North Sydney boys

Davui Namila
40.jpg

Davui is quick and very althetic (right) centre. He has been the Bears top player in over the past two years. Strong in defense and can cart the ball up to help forwards (he did play alot of second row in the 2004 season). In 2005 he improved his ball skills and provided alot of great balls to Lester Salonoa (the right winger).

" Overview: Namila came to the Bears from the Central Queensland Comets in the Queensland Cup. He has scored many tries and is a strong ball runner with a great fend which makes him difficult to stop close to the line. Namila was born in Fiji and spent much of last year playing in the second row the North Sydney Club."

Chris Tuatara
41.jpg

Tuatara is a bit raw, but has time on his side being 19. Very big for a 19 year old centre. A strong runner and can be tough to bring down. Should only get bigger and stronger.

"Overview: Chris impressed enough during the pre-season to be called into the North Sydney Bears Premier League squad despite 2005 being his first year out of school. He is near the top of the tryscorers list for the League, and can score his tries from long-range or by barging over close to the line. He is also strong in defence."

"Roberts could be anything, but probably won't be. Has consistently disappointed as 1/2 or 5/8. Can make some miracle plays, but they are spread out in between some utter rubbish. If he could be more consistent he'd be a good player, but they've been waiting a fair while to see it happen. He just doesn't have the vision and speed between the ears to play 7 or 6. Put him at lock or in the centres and you will probably be much happier"

Write down the name Steve Page, a great young halfback who I've seen play some absolute blinders in the local U/18s comp. Don't know much about him, I heard he was recruited from the country (I think), but the Dogs wanted him to have a year in the junior league. At last Sunday's Grand Finals he won the junior league player of the year award.

doesnt matter, chris tuatara and the other bloke from north sydney are solid prospects for sure.

unlike last year where we bought all "maybes".... at least there are wraps and a few of them for these two....
well from reading match reports, checking the review on the kennel and asking round, it seems like tuatara is a gun and so is des. jon green and small play with alot of passion apparently which is always good

You have also signed Lester Salanoa from Norths Premier League. Lester is a very good player. Great step and very fast. He played with the Bears this year and played First Grade Union for Parramatta Two Blues the year before that.
