hey Madd Dog, i'd be honoured to take the new vacant spot in the LU Cup. and i could ease chilemans worries of obtaining the wooden spoon!! unfortunately i have a friendly organised for this week, but i really would ove to be a part or the cup! i would probably fit in better here!! haha, yeah that'd be cool if you could put me in in place of the panthers, no worries if someone else has been given the spot.

The games in the LU Cup round 5 are expected to be played this week. Those that already have played round 5, have the week off.

If anyone would like a friendly against Hills Havoc, just challenge and it will be accepted.

And the winner to take Penrith's spot in the LU Cup goes to ... *drum roll* ... Poida! Come on down! ;-) :p

You'll gain Penrith's position on the table (12th out of 14 unfortunately) and goal difference to make it easier to work out the table. This week you were supposed to face the Falcons, but due to the situation we'll postpone that to the end of the cup. So the Falcon's can also book a friendly for this week. Normally if you miss a match you'll forfeit and the other team gets a 5-0 win.

Ummm, what was the name and ID number of your team again Poida? (I'm too lazy to hunt back through the thread  )

The Ernesto's Strikeforce vs Gisborne Heat match hasn't been booked yet. I notice that Heat hasn't logged on for a week, so if he still hasn't accepted the friendly that I'm guessing Strikeforce has sent him by Monday then Strikeforce can book a friendly and will be awarded the match by forfeit.

Never mind, Poida. Found your team.

I'm just trying to figure out who owns what teams in the cup. I know most of them, but there are a few that I can't quite remember.

1.Hills Havoc (76551) – Northwest Rabbit
2.Heathcote Harriers (76086) - Chileman
3.Rockhampton Wolves (37503) – Mad Dogg
4.Madtown Vikings (417109) – Poida Raider
5.CKA (76006) - ???
6.Whataloada Bulldogs (76572) – Dog-E
7.Incredible Holc FC (37505) – incredible holc (well, duh! )
8.Red & Green Machine (37484) - ???
9.Sydney City Crew (76345) - ???
10.Gisborne Heat (77616) – ???
11.AFC Real Drexciya (54946) – Suburban Knight
12.Ernesto's Strikeforce (77036) - ???
13.Avalon_Avengers (37174) - ???
14.Central Coast Falcons (37154) – Mr Charisma

Anybody else who isn't in the cup please put your name (and team name and ID #) down also, as I'm trying to make a list of just how many people from here are playing.

thanks mad dogg!! i feel like i am now a true part of the LU hattrick crowd..
oh for this weeks LU Cup fixtures, i am really quite happy to take the forfeit. simply so that the cup finishes all in one go! oh yeah and when would that be?? in like a year from now or something??!

do you guys play your best teams, or do you play your second team??

oh and just to be a pain in the ass. i have a question about training. ok so at the moment i am training scoring, and i have had about 3 or 4 players go up a level, only one of which one of my strikers. obviously i'm not really complaining!!
so i read in the rules of hattrick that a player has to be playing in a particular position to be training and increasing their levels of skill.. obviously thats not right and i misread. i spose the question is how does training work, and do the players have to be playing to be training?

oh and if one of my first team strikers was 31 years old, would it be considered a bad thing to be training scoring? my other 3 main strikers are 17, 19, and 24.

i dont really know if that makes a whole lotta sense. its the best i can do!!
peace out!

oh and the sydney city crew are managed by RedDragon, i know cause i saw his player on the transfer list.

oh and i was also wondering what a clown is, or more to the point.. what is the highest clown?? as in his nature and temperament, or whatever they are..
thanks!!

Thanks, it'll make it a bit more user-friendly if it all finishes together. As for when it finishes, there are 8 more rounds of the cup left to go after this round finishes. Damn, by my reckoning that means the Oceanian Cup will come around again before the last round takes place.

I play my 2nd team, although there isn't that much of a difference between my strongest and 2nd stongest team (every player I have can play in the league if their form is good enough). Normally one or two of my midfielders back up as I don't have the numbers to play two completely different teams.

oh and just to be a pain in the ass. i have a question about training. ok so at the moment i am training scoring, and i have had about 3 or 4 players go up a level, only one of which one of my strikers. obviously i'm not really complaining!!

If you're training scoring, then only the players that are playing as forwards in either the league or friendly game (if they play in both then it goes by the position in the last game - the friendly) get the training. Other positions do get a tiny bit of training, but it's so small that you rarely notice it. If you've had a number of non-strikers go up over the last few weeks, then you're very lucky. It happens occasionally, my goalie just went up in defence the other week (all the way to wretched  ).

oh and if one of my first team strikers was 31 years old, would it be considered a bad thing to be training scoring? my other 3 main strikers are 17, 19, and 24.
The two youngest are good ages for training. The 24yo is starting to lose his training value, while the 31yo will be lucky if he goes up a level in a full season. You would probably be better off selling him and buying a younger trainee, although if he's your best striker then you might want to wait until your other ones catch up. I know when I first started training defending I kept a 26yo for the first season so my defence wasn't completely shot, and then once my trainees had improved enough I sold him and bought another trainee.

oh and i was also wondering what a clown is, or more to the point.. what is the highest clown?? as in his nature and temperament, or whatever they are..
A clown is a player with solid leadership and popular agreeability.

I don't mind the wooden spoon amigo, as long as my youth keep getting experience and the $$$$ keep coming in :D

4-0 final!

Not bad amigo - considering that was also the halftime score!! ;)

Youre just a bit unlucky i had 2 play one of my first team C.Mids today, in a desperate attempt to try & play the bugger into a bit of form for my weekend game against my series leaders!...Else the midfield...and the game...would have been a LOT closer! :)

ok so i ended up buying that guy anyway.

hes not a bad player anyway, even if he is 35.

he has solid leadership, popular (?)
and poor leadership skills.

so if hes not a clown, i am very dissappointed here!!

i also got myself a new inadequate coach, solid leadership. hes passable experience.

so in doing that, i should fire my old crapper coach?? should i? ok well i did anyway. i thought it was best. i spose i didnt really know though.

hes fond of attacking, i thought that'd be best if i was training scoring, but again i didnt really know for sure on that.
i'm going to invest in some passable/solid scoring, 17 year olds for my program.
and i'm selling my 24 year old passable scoring player, whos only in the 2nds anyway..

i hope everything starts to work out for me.

If somebody doesn't accept the challenge by Monday, it's fine to get another match set up. Just let us know so we can mark it down as a forfeit by the other team.

Talking about Heat, it appears he may be in a bit of trouble due to a few dodgy transfers with another team. They were big money transfers for players that don't seem to be worth what was paid (one in particular that was $1.5m for a player valued about 28k  ). Both teams haven't been logged into since the 17th of this month, so I'm guessing they've been locked out until the mods decide what to do with them. I haven't heard anything, but it looks suspicious. Naughty naughty... ;-)

I'm scheduled to play Heat in the next round of the cup, but due to the circumstances I'll challenge another team on Saturday if he hasn't accepted or got in touch with me.

From what you said before, I'm guessing you mean solid experience? If so, unfortunately no he's not a clown. He needs solid leadership, experience doesn't matter for clowns.

i also got myself a new inadequate coach, solid leadership. hes passable experience.

so in doing that, i should fire my old crapper coach?? should i? ok well i did anyway. i thought it was best. i spose i didnt really know though.

You did the right thing firing your old coach. Unless he's good enough to be a player (doubtful) then he's no use and will just sit around getting his wage. Being fond of attacking or defending doesn't really have a right or wrong. It pretty much gives a small boost to your attack (or defence), while a neutral coach will give an even smaller boost to both. Some say it's best to have the opposite of what you train, but seeing as attack is more important that defence it can also be said that you should go for the attacking boost.

With an inadequate coach, it'll take one or two weeks longer for your trainees to go up a level than what they would with a solid coach. The advantage of your coach is his solid leadership, if you use PIC and MOTS correctly it'll give you a nice little boost in team spirit.
