The Maguire Effect: Strength & Conditioning

Just looking at a couple of Before Madge and After Madge Photos of Jeff Lima and Ryan Hoffman and I am already in waiting for 2012 pre-season training and progression. And considering how Beau Champion stated how much harder training was at Melbourne comparing to Souths etc and Maguire's team at Wigan see two players even fitter again, This makes me very excited to see what Dave Taylor looks like if he has a full pre-season under Maguire.

What an odd thread. You realise Hoffman was at Melbourne when Maguire was? Lima possibly too.

There is a difference, though, between being an assistant and being head coach.

However, I think it's best for people to keep their expectations at a reasonable level.

It wasn't that long ago I had huge expectations with Daniel Anderson taking over at the Eels, then we roared into the Grand Final ... only for him to be punted the next year (a bit nonsensical that one, but what's done is done).

Then people began hyping Kearney. I think he'll be a good coach, but things take time.

I'm excited about Maguire, but he needs to be given time and support - even if he doesn't get immediate results.

Shaun McRae was a celebrated coach in the ESL too...
Hi f**kwit troll. The difference between McRae and Maguire has been explained a thousand times. McRae won a championship 8 years before he came to the NRL. That's a generation (or two) in coaching. And noone described McRae as a "genius" in his assistant coaching days with the Raiders.

It's like saying a Toyota and a Ferrari are the same thing because they both have 4 wheels and an engine.

No offence but this is a stupid thread; Maguire learnt his trade at Melbourne, so he applies the same strength and conditioning principles as them.

P.s. Ryan Hoffman looks like Ben Creagh in his Wigan picture

There is obviously a difference seeing both look noticeably fitter then they did playing for the Storm!.

Being an Assistant Coach and Being a Head Coach can be two completely different level of controlling things.

Craig just likes his players beefier.

GI and Issy both lost weight once they left the storm, maybe Madge plays a bit more uptempo. Jeff definately looks slimmer
