Liverpool legend??? the guy was a childhood Everton fan... he hated liverpool... he only signed for them because his old man told him to....

Hmmm, what exactly does that have to do with him being one of Liverpool's best ever forwards? Now he's donning the fabled No.7 for United :D.

Cantona --> Beckham --> Ronaldo --> Owen

This keeps getting better and better. Surely any true United Fan would have problems with giving your most haloed number to a Liverpool legend.

George Best. Never forget that. The best 7 United ever had.

To you. Maybe not to him, a season ticket holder who lives, breathes, sleeps Manchester United. He, not you, hated it. Each to their own.

Thats fair enough. I can except that.

What did he think of Ronaldo last summer when he dreamied of Madrid? Or Cantona when he joined? Was he one of the people who booed when Tevez was subbed and ruined Fergies speech by singing 'fergie sign him up'?

All i said was peoples opinions change, especialy after a few goals.

Oh and for the record, i am also a season ticket holder at OT and have been for many years. I've also been to many away games and followed United round Europe. A German beer festival is a good tonic if your team doesn't perform and you get beat! :D

We've played four pre-season games in Asia. Two matches against a Malasian 11, one against FC Seoul, and one last night against a Chinese league team. FC Seoul gave us a good entertaining match which we eventually won 3-2, but the others have been your usual pre-season friendlies.

Rooney hasn't been playing particularly well, but our other four strikers have been combining well. Owen has scored 4 goals in 4 games, Macheda has got 2, and Berbatov has 2. Berba is looking much better than last season, he's playing higher up the field and he and Owen in particular have been combining extremely well. Berba pretty much did anything he wanted in the match last night, the Chinese team couldn't live with him and he scored one and set up two or three others (we eventually won 8-2, with Giggs getting his first ever hattrick for Man Utd).

its still really early days... but if we win the league and champions league this season where would SAF rank as a manager??

He'd have to be up there with Bob Paisley if we do...

Does Zoran Tosic look likely to start this year ?
Hard to say. Our left wing position is completely up for grabs with Nani and Park probably the favourites, but Tosic and Obertan looking to break into the side. Welbeck could also be a shout, and of course Rooney might play out there occasionally. Then there is Giggsy who might still get a few games out wide.

If I had to take a guess, I don't think Tosic will get many games, but I could easily be wrong. It'll all come down to who grabs the opportunity and runs with it. Park's the safe option, but all the others will get their chance to claim the role.

I think Nani will start left, he has been at the club longer, is more settled etc.

Hopefully as the sharpness increases we may be able start creating more from midfield. Good to see Ando and Valencia grab goals.

Berbatov looked good so far. Owens goal scoring is also pleasing.

whos pumped?? i cant wait for this season... im more excited at the start of this season than the last two...

it kind of feels like the start of the 06-07 season... there were massive questions being posed about how we would replace the goals that RVN provided. we didn't buy in another top striker... we also had the Ronaldo/Rooney wink saga at the world cup.

this feels kind of the same.... SAF is once again putting his faith in the young guys he's brought through.... who can step up like Ronaldo??

then theres the new boys... Valencia & Orbertan are really exciting...

I agree, it does feel like a few years back when people thought we would finish 5th.

Where will the goals come from? Lets get this season started so we can find out!! :D

Attack was a bit disjointed last night but Im used to us starting seasons slowly. Birmingham played ok even though we were missing Vidic, Rio and Nev in defense.

I was impressed with Valencia, he had a pretty good dig last night. Still we should have put at least 2 more on them.

I flicked it off after an hour. Man U looked pretty comfortable, Birmingham played OK, but there were a few half chances for Man U that could have out the game out of reach.

Thought we did well considering the defence has plenty of injuries. The game past Scholes by a bit and Valencia still needs to settle in.

Other than that, Rooney looks up for it this year and seems happy being a focal point upfront.

The last few seasons we have drawn our first match so we are already 2 points up on last season!
