Double Standards i say, this is a load of crap and this "code of conduct" has just been pulled up so they can find a way to suspend Stewart.

By its very definition every player at the Dally M medals should of been suspended as you cna see them drinking continuosly throughout the entire telecast every year.

Nice work NRL & Gallop you have done exactly what the media wanted and as usual you always play into their hands.

Agree.

Manly's board has shown that money matters more than principles.

Let's hope the players' association gets angry.

I don't think the Manly club should fight the suspension. In a round-a-bout way I believe the NRL has finally made a decision which is in everyones best interests.

All the various media outlets are trying to outdo each other in regards to this story. The media storm they are creating isn't doing anybody any good. If Brett Stewart was to keep on playing, it would have simply gotten worse and worse.

I accept that from a legal standpoint, there has to be a presumption of innocence. In the eyes of the judicial system he is guilty of nothing at this point in time, therefore is legally entitled to play.

However, the longer it went on, the ever increasing media pressure could only be detrimental to not only Brett himself, but the Manly club and the NRL.

Standing him down allows the season to get underway and progress for a month or so, without the focus constantly being on him and the club. The on field drama can take back the centre stage and hopefully the media will find something else to talk about.

This whole situation is just terrible. For all the wild and at times, spiteful innuendo and speculation.........only a handful of people actually know what really happened. The court hearing is less than 4 weeks away, so more information should be available then. It's probably too much to expect, those of you with rather large axes to grind......to show a little restraint and common sense until then, but try anyway. For the good of the game, if nothing else.

What happened last year is not relevant and can't be changed. The test of what the NRL did is what happens to the next player who screws up.

I think standing someone down while facing serious charges is a reasonable thing to do and is quite normal in many businesses.

You have put your case forward well.

But I dont believe in sacrificial lambs. And thats how the NRL is treating Stewart.
