Having commented briefly on another thread, about the changing face of the mighty Red V jersey, thought l'd post a new thread for members to comment on their favourite strip.

For me, the mighty Penfolds jersey is my favourite.
It had a bit of flair yet was unmolested compared to today's' unlimited advertising policy.

Your thoughts?

Definately the Penfolds mate, have one of my old ones in a frame with great old signatures my son and I collected, and another one in the wardrobe I'm too scared to wear - because it's shrunk so much and is a bit fragile. Missus reckons the extra kg's and hard work I've done with my body moulding over the years is the problem....but what would she know.

Penfolds jumpers the best for mine by a long shot, simple, crisp and Dragons through and through, but I can understand why our Illawarra brothers may not agree.

As you know, l St George thru & thru but in saying that, l value the connection and merger with Illawarra and still to this day, l cannot understand why we don't play in the Steelers strip as well as the Dragons strip. Of course, the combined badge would stay the same on the two strips.

To me, that is a fair and just merger of the two clubs. Both the same colours, everything works or am l just plain wrong?

Good thread mate.
Love the history of the jumpers, interesting how my Penfolds have survived in my wardrobe whilst all the others haven't.

The old Westmont Penfolds jersey with the silk red V and the little triangle under the Penfolds writing to complete the cut V effect. Back in the early to mid 80's the Westmont Penfolds jersey's that the players wore had silk red V's. These jerseys were very hard to come by in shops, I could not find any in any shops. A mate and myself ended up going to Westmont HQ at St Mary's with the intention of getting a genuine silk V Saints jersey with all the Penfolds sponsorship, numbers, badges and silk V. In the end still didn't get the silk V. Regretfully I did not hang on to that jersey, it definitely still would be my favourite. I do have collection of over 30 Saints Jersey's, most of them in mint condition.

I would love for Saints to wear the old silk V jersey on heritage weekend, when they wear a retro jersey. I would definitely be buying one.

I do like the old jersey from the 60's that had the full red V with the red and white St George emblem on the V

I do like this year's jersey with the full red V on it.

I do not like us wearing the scarlet jerseys. lol But I even have the retro Illawarra jersey that St George Illawarra wore in the early naughties. It is the old material too. I could become a collectable in the future.

I also have a limited edition picture on my bedroom wall signed by Norm Provan. It it titled The Pride Of The Dragons. Then underneath it says The Evolution Of Success since 1921, then underneath that, it has nine St George jerseys and their date showing a progression of how our jersey has evolved since 1921. It also has the blood and bandages jersey that we wore against the Poms when that thrashed us. We had to wear a different jersey when we played England because their our jersey and theirs were too similiar.
