repeat after me ... we require a quaility halfback ...... if we dont get one then we will go nowhere next year.

If Tim Smith is that quaility halfback then play him cause Michael Witt aint.

If we do neither look forward to another couple of years at the wrong end of the ladder no matter which forwards and backs we sign.

Exactly. There aren't any halfbacks out there. There's no point suggesting we chase a halfback when there aren't any to chase.

I still think that Dykes or Morris can do the job at half, especially if we have outside backs of the quality of Tahu and Grothe. Good forwards lay the platform and good backs finish the movements. The blokes in between only have to control the momentum and both Dykes and Morris are more than capable of doing that.

We need a quality half/five-eighth pairing. We can find individual players that can go alright at either position, but never quite that combination that gels?

I think the closest we came in the past few years was Morris-Witt for that string of games in late 2003... With the addition of a full-time hooker next year in Riddell, that option might get the chance to re-emerge and be better than before?

Sorry - I'm confused! You're talking about quality players... so who the heck is this williamson from Manly? Is he a youngster setting the world on fire in their lower grades, because I KNOW that you're not talking about Luke Williamson - that guy is hopeless!!!

If Witt actually got to play a few games in a row at half back then I think you will see some better footy from him.
He has been swapped from 7 to 6 and has only had very little time in the top grade.
There is no way you can expect him to shine under those circumstances.
He did very well last year when he got a decent shot, why not give him that chance again?

Brian Smith has to make up his mind and stick with it for a few weeks to get results.

Williamson might make 30 tackles per game, but so what? There's plenty of backrowers out there who can do that! And PLENTY of them are over 95kgs as well!

Williamson is too small to be a forward, too small with not enough skills to be a back and all he's got is his 30 tackles. Think of a worse version of Daniel Wagon.... no thanks!

Alarm bells is right eels2swin!!!!
