The Cup is only 6 days away. The race that stops a nation. I don't think there is another horse race in the whole world that garners so much interest from the public. So who do you like in this year's Cup and why?

I am keen on the favourite Yucatan. His first up run in Australia was one of the best Cup trials I have ever seen from an international raider. He is into $4.50 now. That is very short. The Williams camp appear pretty confident about his chances too. Nick Williams said that he is the Melbourne Cup winner in waiting. The Williams team have numerous entries in the race, but they told jockey James McDonald that he was their Melbourne Cup horse.

Cross Counter is my next pick. He is a northern hemisphere 3 year old, who has got in with a light weight. Last year's winner was also a Northern hemisphere 3 year old.

Magic Circle is my next pick. He will be first up from a decent spell over 2 miles, but he does have some pretty good form in the UK over 3200m and more.

Looking good. Those are some great bets. I got him at $11 and may even top up on the day. I take futures. If you have any tips for big race futures, I would appreciate it if you would pm some tips

No read the Williams had purchased a half share with Coolmore same as last year Rekindling and O'Brien as trainer.
Not a bad system.
Backed Green Moon a Williams horse a few years ago.

My tip is.......Finche. Loved the way he finished off a mile and a half a week or so ago at Geelong. Big weight drop, and hopefully Hughie can make the weight to stay on him. Got $31 last weekend.

Like Frank said, his run in the Herbert Power was an amazing run and to be honest, if he was ridden to the line i reckon he wins by 10 lengths. I think he is the one to beat and will be having a little splash on him as well......wish i could go back in time and get a bit of the $81

I am very concerned about beating the bookies after averaging $71.
Repeat of the run the other day goes close to winning the race.
I'm assisting with the sweeps at Tugun SLSC on Tuesday.
Stampede will be hard to bet in race eight after the Melbourne Cup.

#22 - Youngstar - should be around the $16-20 mark - Good run in the Caulfield Cup, light weight.
#9 - Marmelo - should be around the $15-20 mark - last years eq fav, different campaign this year

and of course for sentiments sake the old fella #7 -Who Shot The Barman - around the 50/1 mark.
