You win rounds by landing punches and basically f**king up your opponent's face, you genius. You know, like boxing??
Not necessarily... a massive part of winning the rounds are ringmanship... or in the UFC octagon control.
Usually the fighter going forward gets the benefit of the doubt if the fighter going backwards isn't defensively suave enough to stay out of a brawl.
Damage to the face or even compubox means absolutely nothing to the 3 judges at ringside... they are judging it round by round as the action is happening.
For the record I had Manny winning the Horn fight by a couple of rounds... but I could easily see it going the other way as there were at least 6 rounds that were very close that could have gone either way.
It was certainly no robbery...
The judge who gave it 117-111 was f**king out of there mind... but the two judges who gave it to Horn 115-112 weren't terrible scores.
The reaction here is the US fans who love Manny and the ESPN team who were hoping for future endeavours Manny would win.
Bob Sheridan who was calling the fight for the local broadcast team is a far, far more accomplished fight caller than anyone on the ESPN crew and he called it a close fight to Horn.
Manny's own promoter Bob Arum from Top Rank... who by the way approved the three international judges before the fight... also said it was a close fight where he thought it could have gone either way....
