"The Mystery Player"

In Local NINE news they said that there could be a "Mystery Player" (they actually used that term)who might play the five-eighth this week and David Furner said it was an outside back. So I'm thinking it could be a player who played five-eighth for premier League. The one the only ADRIAN PURTELL.

But more likely could be Josh Dugan. 5/8 is his other natural position. i think that would be a great option.

Also, Graham and Purts will hopefully swap sides as they did on Sunday

Would like to see this come Monday:

1. Milne
5. Graham
3. Croker
4. Monaghan
2. Purtell
21. Dugan
7. Herbert
8. Shillington
9. Buttriss
10. Logan
11. TLL
12. Harrison
13. Tongue
-----------------
14. Thurling
15. Miller
16. Tilse
18. Waddell

Id rather see someone with a kicking game play..Mcrone and Herbert have no kicking games at all! Like to see Mick Picker get the gig

Herbert has a solid kicking game. He kicks it down the throat of the fullback too often though.

I hope the mystery player is Dugan, it couldnt possibly be Purtell...could it?

I hope this is nonsense as I'm very keen to see Herbert and McCrone in the halfs.

It is a huge opportunity for them to shine without campese dominating.

Furner has never started with his named 17 yet. On that note...did we cop a fine for starting with Tilse the other day?

Brimmer - Yeah I was thinking that as soon as I started reading this thread as well... Just reminded me of the commentators going on about how the Raiders would be finded as we fielded a different starting team from what we listed. Granted we only have to say a player was winded in warm up and you can swap him out so I don't see how could really get fined....

In regards to the team I'm really worried about missing Campo... Happy as that he is getting a shot at SoO but damn it leaves a big hole to fill in our team sheets this weekend.... Why the f**k don't we just have either the SoO on a weekend OR a week with-out club level games the weekend before hand?

Id put in Waddel at halfback and Harrison at 5/8th.
Harrison has good hands and would suit the old style 5/8th, Waddell has a spring to his step and would run when oppurtunity opens up.
Leave Buttriss at hooker and bring on Herbert if the halves are not working in the first 20 minutes

Thats the worse Idea ever to have State of Origin without any club games that week and have only 1 game of footy to watch in either 14days or 12 days gap.
Its has always been like this since origin started and to change it cause players are actually fitter get payed more and gives others oppurtunitys to play first grade is a joke to ever think of having it alone for the week(on weekend) or near fortnight(remains on Wednesday night)

In the early 90s they used to split the rounds over 2 weeks, with some teams getting the weekend off before origin usually the teams heavily involved.

Bit harsh if we dump McCrone given 5/8 is his best position. The logical choices would be Purtell or Graham who actually have experience in the nrl whereas Dugan is just as green as McCrone.

I remember when Purts played there in reggies. He absolutely blitzed it and won MOM and was back in firsts a week later.

I cant see Purts been 5/8, maybe Dugan , but Id rather McCrone slot in there as it is his prefered natural position.
I dont want Tongue there , Im want him to play , but not in the halves
