Not sure what others think but after only seeing 9 wins in two years, I'm hoping that we have reached our lowest ebb. My positive and optimistic side is telling me that we will now spiral on an upward curve to a period of sustained success and the club can grow into the powerhouse it has the potential to be.
I truly can't believe that things can get any worse then they are now.
It has truly been a depressing 2 seasons results wise, so surely, the only way is up.

Yes but we've missed the boat on some big dollar pigs for next year, so I have no expectations for 2013 other than perhaps being a more committed and better drilled team.

I think we need a change. New coach and maybe a fresh new jumper.

2014 will bring us Hoppa and a few new signings. Hopefully some of these kids will be ready to peak too.

I'm with you, Suitman. It can't possibly get any worse than it has been this season. I hope the 'lads' realise that every new coach brings a new opinion on their worth to the football team and the direction it is headed.

It's not hard to fall out of favour with the new coach and find yourself on the outer at the club. I hope they realise that and start putting in immediately to ensure their careers have some longevity.

The only way is definitely up. How much we can improve on I'm not sure of yet. It'd be good if we gob nab a couple of decent backrowers which is is our obvious weakness, but even without that with a fresh coach and the squad we have we should be able to move out of spoon territory move into the also-rans territory. I think we might struggle to make the finals but if we can improve to say 10th or 11th that can at least be something to build on and in 2014 we just might be a force again.

We have the basis of a very good squad which includes two players with the x factor. Any new coach should work on our defensive structure overtime in addition to adding a few attackIng plays to our attack when attacking the oppositions line and I reckon we could be big improvers in 2013

Actually apart from a 10 week period in 2009, it really has been 4 depressing seasons ! We have been ordinary for that long.
Let face it we have been pretty average since 05, 06 we just scraped into 8th spot and in 07 we had to win our last game to almost avoid missing the finals altogether. Take out our Hayne inspired 9 week run in 09 and we stunk. We have barely been in the top 8 the last 5 years.......

Without some forwards we, and the new coach are going to struggle. That was the problem SK had and so will the next coach. But yes when you get the wooden spoon the only way is up. aN GOD I HOPE SO!!!

My boss's father was/is a 76yo lifelong Nth Sydney fan who attended near on every home game for decades. He still watches his footy yet without a club to support he has no real passion. He actually told me a couple of weeks ago that Parra often remind him of Nth Sydney. He was sincere in his thoughts and said he felt sorry for us. Moral to the story? It could always get worse.
He also said that if he could go back 76 years and change teams then he wouldn't change a thing. "They were the Nth Sydney Bears. How could you not love them?".

And because this is in my head I thought I'd share.

Well said Suity, I agree. The future, whatever it holds, simply has to be bright.

This period has to have been a low patch, and I can't imagine it could get any worse. With the announcement that change is ahead, I think we should see the players that remain lift themselves psychologically (if not the next 7 games, then at least for next season) to get above these 6 from 24 or 3 from 17 type of win ratios.

Why?
Why would these players lift because of a change of coach?

The young'uns who Kearney has brought up or in (Blair, Paulo, Sio, Ryan, Mullaney, Morgan, N Smith, Allgood) have all been playing with enthusiasm and the right attitude since making 1st grade. Their only problems have been execution.

The 'old stagers' (Hindy, Burt, Moi Moi, Poore, B Smith, Tonga, Reni) have all been playing as best as their ability and 'aging' bodies allow.

The 'rest' (Sandow, Mannah) who are neither young'uns or oldies can lift all they like and maybe these 2 have been below expectations this year but Mannah has off field issues that I believe are impacting his mental attitude and Sandow can and will only ever play what is in front of him off a platform that his forwards give him.

So tell me again why (and how) do you expect these players to lift again just because there will be a change of coach sometime soon?

Well put, hope you're right.

Perhaps, based on this thread, your postings have also reached the lowest ebb and are on the way up!!

Perhaps these old timers aren't as past it as you think they are and confidence and enthusiasm will lift knowing someone else is in charge. Perhaps a dead weight will be taken off their back. The evidence will play out over the rest of the season so if the older blokes do lift and the younger guys execute things better we'll know why. It starts tonight.

Purely because of the general psychological effect of a new (as yet unknown) circumstance lying ahead of them. Playing under the spectre of only 9 wins from 41 must have been much worse for any player than it has been for us fans. A light at the end of the tunnel might lift them out of what can be seen as a long-term rut results-wise- if not tonight, then for sure next season under new circumstances.

So tell me again why (and how) do you expect these players to lift again just because there will be a change of coach sometime soon?
I just did. Any further questions?
