Good assessment DJ1. I agree with all of it except I think Sharks are a dark horse due to quicker play the balls suiting BK's style of play. Think back to how BK was going in 2002 before NRL outlawed the surrender tackle.

The teams in the top 8 after round 8 in 2005 included,

Brisbane 12, North QLD 12, Cronulla 12, Manly 12, Canberra 12, Parramatta 8, Wests 8, Melbourne 8

The teams finished the regular season as

Parramatta 32, St George-Illawarra 36, Brisbane 34, Wests 32, North QLD 32, Melbourne 30, Cronulla 28, Manly 28

7 of the top 8 after round 8 remained at the end of round 26. The only significant move from round 8 the 26 was St George moving into the top 8 and Canberra moving out.

The comparison is from 8 to 26 not every round to 26.

In comparing round 15 to 26, 7 of the top 8 after round 15 remained at the end of round 26. The only significant move from round 15 to 26 was Wests moving into the top 8 and Roosters moving out.

...and if you said this in addition to your original statement, thered be no problem.

It wasnt...Wests moved out, then back in...eventually to 4th. Pretty significant imo.

Writing off the Dragons and Eels after only 8 rounds?

You're an idiot

As stated, I wrote the Eels and the Dragons off prior to the start of the season.

Problem?

My response was in answer to Balmain Boy.
Sincere question, where did the 1-7 teams after round 8 finish at the end of the season?

The only significant difference in the makeup of the top 8 when comparing round 8 to the end of the regular season is the inclusion of St George and the exclusion of Canberra. A team playing the hokey-pokey and moving out then back in is not significant to his question.

If the Roosters win this weekend against the dogs then it is realy worth six points to them. They have the bye the following week and then a game against Souths to play.

With most of the teams above them having a few hard matches they could even get up as far as 4th
