The Parramatta District

So I grew up in Lalor Park.

I was a member of the Lalor Park Kookaburras RLFC. We knew at Lalor Park that we were the furthest west of the club at that time. With Sunnyholt Rd being the boundary.

With that in mind, I asked Kevin Wise this week, what exactly entailed the Parramatta District.

I was told

Kevin Wise said:
Commencing at Camellia station, thence via railway line to Parramatta Road,to Church St, thence via Church St to Woodville Rd to the Hume Highway, thence along the west side of the Hume Highway to Landsdown Bridge. AlongCabramatta Ck to its junction with Elizabeth Drive, along Elizabeth Drive toNorth Liverpool Rd, then along North Liverpool Rd to the junction withCowpasture Rd, Cowpasture to Chandos Rd, Chandos Rd to Trafalgar Tunnel, along Reservoir Boundary to Reservoir Private Road, Reservoir Private Roadto Church Lane, Church Lane to Blacktown Road, Blacktown Road to Main St,along Main St to Sunnyholt Road to Old Windsor Road, Old Windsor Road toHawksbury River. The whole of the Baulkham Hills Shire linking up with therailway line at Pennant Hills Station thence via the railway line toCarlingford Road at Epping, along Carlingford Road and Pennant Hills Roadto the Carlingford railway line, thence via the railway line to the point ofcommencement at Camellia Station.
For those that want to see what that means. The Area in Red.

I am also told there is an agreement between Parramatta and Penrith so that McGrath's Hill is Penrith District League and not ours.Either way. Not to small.

Just a bit of a research exercise. Might help people who want to know what the Parramatta District is.

Remember we were discussing Norwest when we spoke about sponsorship, I though it was Penrith District. Well this places Norwest securely in Parramatta's hands.

Interesting as far up as Pitt Town is in our district. I would never have guessed that.

Useful as far as people thinking about Football Club elections and how to vote can understand what the geographical remit of the junior leagues is.

That may be our region geographically, however culturally none of those areas sponsor the Eels and that's what matters. People in Windsor will prefer to support Penrith. People in Hornsby more than likely will support rugby. Fairfield, maybe the Bulldogs? Norwest, well they may go for the Eels for the sake of it, but they're not going to be hardcore fans.

The thread's not really about sponsorship or support. It's merely our junior league area and geographical area of responsibilty of the Football Club.

It's another matter as to how (or if) the Football Club exploits or taps that wider geographical area to the advantage of the NRL Eels (adminsitered through the Leagues Club).

Looking at that graphic we could:

play 1/3 of our home games at Gosford;
play 1/3 home games at NSydney Oval

and lay claim to the immediate geographic area between our district and the Coast, and stake a claim to twice the population? (if the areas are roughly equally populated?

 We should trun this into a wartime map, and start advancing our flags into opposition territories!

It would be interesting to note the growth areas in this map.

Kellyville and the sounds has boomed in the last 10 years.

I remember when I went and saw Denis Fitzgerald's Powerpoint Presentation that the members were allowed to see as a pre-cursor to merger. It mentioned one of the Benefits would be to purchase land and develop a stadium for the Kellyville Bush rangers, with a goal to playing the occasional Parramatta game there. I also remember we were supporting the Bush rangers kinda like we do with Wenty now. Andrew Ryan was playing with Kellyville and working as a Groundsman at Parramatta leagues before he Cracked 1st grade.

The menace strikes again.

The parramatta power, the kellyville Bushrangers, next stop the world.

There is no end to what this bloke will waste our money on in his quest for world domination.

If only he showed the same desire in spending money on accomplished first grade forwards and halfbacks as he did for half-baked expansion and merger schemes.

I would have enjoyed watching a hybrid game of union and league with no goalkicking, played by the Parramatta Tigers at Kellyville Stadium.
