It was pretty obvious to me too and I don't get it either.

It reminded me of the second half of the Charity Shield when Mann and Field got a crack at playing 7.

In that case it McCrone they shifted to dummy half and he proceeded to pass only to Widdop, leaving Mann and Field with no ball.

At the time I thought it was just McCrone denying these players of the opportunity to unseat him from the halfback job.

Now I'm convinced it a coaching direction.

On both occasions this tactic proved child's play for the opposition to contain and on both occasions we were well beaten as a result.

The only reason I could forgive this tactic last night, would be if Mary is committed to giving Mann an extended run in the 7 and he wanted to take some pressure off him initially.

Of this I am yet to be convinced.

Time will tell.

Well, if he does, then Mary makes a mockery of his own decision to punt him to the bench yesterday...

Mcinnes really needs some of the pressure taken off him as far as the amount of tackling he does week in week out ....last night.with about 5 mins to go he had racked up 40 tackles and if you watch him most times hes the first one in and takes on the big boys front on...for a little guy he plays way above his weight but its not helping his attacking game, he should be doing more from dummy half by pinching metres and trailing the big men through from offloads (not that weve been good in this area of late)....not sure what Peats stats were like in defence but he stole metres from us during the game

To be honest he didn't get the ball much. I honestly thought JDB was playing half in the first half the amount he was at first reciever.
