yes...but atleast it doesn't take them 15 years, 856 hissy fits, 25 trillion dollers to make one.

give me the Ramones anyday.

It doesn't take much 2 produce a song which goes for 2 minutes, involves 5 chords and the same lyrics over and over.

They were overated hence album sales, and the guy had the worst voice ever when you consider in the 80's a singers voice wa high priority.

Received more hype, certainly, but AIC sh*ts on all of them.

Actually, STP and Soundgarden were great bands too. Nirvana were fairly crap.

STP and Soundgarden were great bands, that's my point. If AIC had been around todayu or released Dirt today they probably would've been a more well known band.

No, incorrect. People today like their little Australian/World - Idol stars ... they dont like offensive lyrics, or even GREAT music. People have changed, for the worse.

Cantrell wrote most of the songs, and provided the vocals on the verses of 'Would?' as well as backing vocals and guitar which really the heart of the AIC sound. It's not like Soundgarden without Chris Cornell, it's more like AC/DC without Bon Scott. Not the same, but still excellent. By the way, I just saw this video, and this has to be the wost attempt at a new singer ever:

Of course Cantrell wrote most of the songs - he was the guitarist. However, Layne taught him how to sing and provided the vocal melodies. He was also the master of harmonising.

More importantly, his vocals are haunting - and the creepy, depressing atmosphere that AIC created thanks largely to Layne was the key.

I'm not downplaying Cantrell at all, I'm just saying that it's not AIC without Layne.

Just as an aside, I'm really glad that they're putting a new spin on the songs a little, rather than going with a karaoke version of Layne. I'd much rather see AIC with William DuVall than die not having seen AIC at all.

The Police are one of the great bands of all time, not a doubt.

I saw Sting twice last time he toured on the Brand New Day album.

Sounds more like an Eddie in VH. Great back up vocalist but do you reckon he could pull it off as main man? i doubt it.

Is Scott Weiland avaliable? i think his voice could contribute quite abit to them?

He's got 2 albums of solo material as the main man, it's not Alice In Chains but it's decent.

Weiland is very good. Early Stone Temple Pilots is absolutely brilliant, particularly Core and Purple.

Incidentally, Cantrell's solo albums are excellent too - Boggy Depot being the superior.
