Really they just need to harden the hell up, its far from a soft sport but its a hell of it lot easier then a lot of factory and warehouse workers go through 50+ hours a week.
They are paid an exceptionally high wage to do something most people only dream of.
and they have a damn good point. it is absolutely ridiculous that these players have to play twice on one weekend, and ridiculous that we are still in a situation where the international game is held in such disregard that the test doesnt get the focus of the whole weekend. an nrl free weekend would break up the season well, and also allow nations other than australia and nz to play their own rep matches. png v fiji, samoa v tonga and matches in the northern hemisphere between england, france, wales, ireland would give us an international rugby league weekend.
also, stop comparing the average worker with sports wages! these people are paid more money than most of us because out of hundreds of thousands of people playing the game around the world, they are the elite. you cant walk down to an nrl club and get a job as a top player, these players work their whole lives to get there and then only have a few years on top. it is not relevant comparing factory workers to nrl players. the fact is, our management has stuffed up in a lot of ways over the last few years, and players wages is one of them along with season scheduling!
