The Racism Issue

There is an argument around what’s the difference between calling someone a fat merkin, ginger merkin, ugly merkin, black merkin - it’s just a descriptive word, ‘merkin’ is supposed to be the offensive part.
That being said, with the historical mis-treatment of people of colour worldwide, I guess that’s why it’s a no no. Personally though, I believe someone could call someone a black merkin, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re a racist....

Very tricky subject - have probably already over stepped the mark with those views above - no offence meant to anyone!

Theres no reason for barnett to call Gal a black love canal.
He can’t pick a verbal joust with Gal - Gal already scored a TKO on that one a few years ago when he said something along the lines of ‘who, that winger?’ when asked about him after a game.

This is true.
If argued in barnetts defence - and he has stressed he did not say it - what is peachey offended at...
Being called a merkin?
Or the black adjective?

The media will label someone a black actor. A black activist. A black musician.
So the adjective is sensitively acceptable.

However the assertion is that 'previously' the term has been used to insinuate someone is a merkin because they're black.

Frenzy.

No. Those examples portray a positive. Black merkin is negative.
