The Real Competition Ladder

The bye gives a skewed persepctive to the ladder. When that is removed the competition ladder changes dramatically and gives a different view of how teams are actually going at this stage.

Given that the Broncos have lost two points, this model shows that Saints and the Broncs have been the best performing sides to date which is probably a fair analysis from watching them play.

The Roosters, Panthers, Dogs & Eels round out the top group and have been performing well if not a little patchy at times. No surprise that the Cowboys, Warriors and Eagles prop up the bottom end of the table.

Dragons 8
Roosters 8
Broncos* 8
Panthers 8
Bulldogs 8
Eels 8
Raiders 6
Knights 6
Storm 4
Wests Tigers 4
Sharks 4
Rabbitohs 4
Cowboys 2
Warriors 2
Sea Eagles 2

This still gives a skewed view IMO....Storm and Wests on a par?Naah (unfortunately)
Melb have only just been losing there games.....Dogs have only just been winning there games.

Raiders & Knights on a par??? More so than the previous example but I think the Knights are going better than the Raiders.
Saints, Parra & Warriors the surprises imo.

But doing that does not take into cconsideration that the Bulldogs and the other teams with a bye were denied the chance to get two points on one weekend.

Therefore claims of a REAL table are crap :p

The REAL table is:

No. Club P W D L B P/D PTS
1 Bulldogs 5 4 0 1 1 11 10
2 Dragons 6 4 0 2 0 70 8
3 Roosters 6 4 0 2 0 49 8
4 Broncos * 6 5 0 1 0 35 8
5 Panthers 6 4 0 2 0 24 8
6 Raiders 5 3 0 2 1 -6 8
7 Eels 6 4 0 2 0 -9 8
8 Storm 5 2 0 3 1 52 6
9 Wests Tigers 5 2 0 3 1 -22 6
10 Knights 6 3 0 3 0 -30 6
11 Rabbitohs 5 2 0 3 1 -52 6
12 Cowboys 5 1 0 4 1 4 4
13 Sharks 6 2 0 4 0 -38 4
14 Warriors 6 1 0 5 0 -36 2
15 Sea Eagles 6 1 0 5 0 -52 2

Though I can live with interpretations that have Brisbane as #1 until the appeal is sorted.

Yeah... good attempt to have The Bulldogs removed from the top of the ladder so your club moves up...

I have a better idea for a real ladder! All clubs that have an L in their name should lose 5 points!

But it's dud to think that you should get two points for nothing. Other comps, such as the UK Premier League run their ladders like this.

I'm not suggesting that we scrap the other fom of ladder, but as a point of analysis this throws up some pretty interesting stuff.

Do you really think the Dogs are playing better than the teams on top of them?

Saints, no.
Broncos, no.
Roosters... 35-0.
Panthers, no.
Eels, well they are getting better after their 1st round football lesson :)

St George are second! Live with that and get over it! The Bulldogs weren't given the chance to win the week we had the bye... THe Dragons will get a bye soon...
Well their are no team on top of us (Hence we are coming first  )... We are playing like shit and coming first, just wait till we are on fire...

JUst remember the only team of note the Dogs have played is the Roosters, and 35 - 0 says it all.

I hear this equation time and time again...
the dogs are plying on emotion, nothing more, when the long arm of the law reaches out, and theres no more emotion, you think your gunna kick into another gear and start playing well???
It can also go the other way.

  Yeah ill start trouble in a ROosters jumper... But hey i know nothing will happen because the DOnkey (Gallop) will never ever punish the Roosters for anything... It's always someone elses fault.

Exactly, who says the Bulldogs wouldn't have won in the bye? They weren't given the chance... all teams will be given a bye so shut up and get over it... If you are running out of ideas on how to bash the bulldogs, why don't you insult their penis size, thats all you haven't insulted yet.

By calling him Donkey shows you are one of MattO's minions. The last original idea that bloke had died of loneliness.

The Dogs are playing crap apart from 40 minutes against the Eels. We don't deserve to be on top. The Broncos do. Us Bulldogs supporters are incredibly proud that our team is on top despite all the challenges we are currently facing but we do find it laughable that we can be outright leader when we are playing so awful.

The bye distorts the table either way, as not having the two points disadvantages the top teams (who are more likely to win a game if they play one so miss out on a likely two points), while the current system works to prop up the lower placed teams who would otherwise struggle for points. Given that it's the top od the table that matters most, I think that two points for the bye gives the more accurate picture.
