Other teams had more "pull" in the comp that year
Other teams Played better on the day
Other teams got the Luck on the day
Other teams "sucked up to the right people" all year
Other teams had the management that "shook the right persons hand"...
The ref was corrupt
The league was corrupt
The rules were changed so we wouldn't win it
The Shire is allocated to NEVER win it for what they did to St George in 67
We sucked and didn't have the team to win it
We didn't have the money to win it
We didn't have the "brains" to figure how to win it
WE just plain are NOT allowed to win it!!! (this is my pick)

They are just the ones I can think of in 2 minutes and without bringing the facts of other clubs and crap that has happened into it... ;-)

Btw, I will add this...

Yep, we have. Against the Dragons in 2000, and against Canterbury, also in 2000. But we've never won an important game there.
