The reason for Gasol's disappearance in the playoffs?

Perhaps more than anything, the notion that Pau Gasol can be this team's next great leader was swept away. His sudden and odd postseason disappearance was the most obvious reason for the Lakers' troubles, his fall completed Sunday when he scored 10 points while being pushed around by everyone but his coach, who thankfully refrained from hitting him for a second consecutive game.

"I have to learn from this," Gasol said. ''I have to learn that when something happens off the court, you have to keep it off the court."

He was referring to the report that he stopped talking to Bryant during the postseason because Bryant's wife, Vanessa, had contributed to the breakup of Gasol and his longtime girlfriend.

Lakers fans will remember that Karl Malone once publicly accused Vanessa of interfering with his personal life in a similar fashion.

Whatever was happening, Bryant and Gasol haven't connected on the court in a month, and the Lakers have been lost without the strength of their fusion.

Been reading alot of rumours on this, but it's the first I've seen it being mentioned in an actual article.

Bit hard to interpret what Gasol means in regards to "something". Could just be referring to the break-up.

What a circus lol.

When reports came in that Gasol’s struggle might be the result of his recent break up with his long time girlfriend and fiancée Silvia Lopez. The story didn’t just end here it was reported that Gasol dumped his fiancée because she was in a very close relationship with the wife of another unnamed Laker.
Shortly after his break up, Pau blamed his fellow Laker and wife for the whole situation. This ignited the situation as Gasol and his unnamed teammate became violent towards each other and took shots at each other ladies.

Bit hard to blow up a team with such bad contracts, especially when the cap gets lowered. And the next time Kobe is in the playoffs he's going to be 34, Lebron, Rose, Durant, will be significantly better than him and he'll have an even worse supporting cast than he has now (Gasol/Artest etc will be even older). I'd put money on Kobe never winning another championship.

1 thing i hate. everytime gasol feels contact when shooting under the rim, even if it is legal, he shouts and screams in agony just like he was being stabbed. In my eyes this means he is a whimp
