The second is will this finish before 9.00pm as my kids want me to read them a story before they go to bed.

The kids are in awe of these two kickers...and two of these kids would make good spokesmen for the very topical issue of childhood obesity. They realise all is lost for themselves and start to get behind the participants in this epic struggle.

SS steps up to the plate. Five steps back, two to the left, one back. Strikes it with his sweet, sweet action and it sails between the posts! The crowd goes wild!

Reefy snaps out of his yoga-meditation pose and places the ball in a manner not unlike the legendary Big Mal. Takes a few steps directly back, focuses all his spiritual energy on the hapless Steeden, raises his arm and boots the ball straight over the black dot. 4-2. At this point the crowd begins to swell.

crowd approaching the 30 mark now. this seems to be unsettling SS greatly. Could there be a chink in his armour. He looks worried.
He comes in, he kicks it but its an average attempt. Not to dissimilar to a Kimmorley kick. Everything seems right but they just keep missing.
Waved away.

Reef back in a positive mood & steps up to the tee.
He knows this is an opportunity here.
Undecided here as to whether to use his usual 3 step approach or go for the longer 5 step approach for a bit more distance.
He goes for the 3 step. A picture of concentration. The crowd goes into a hush
He nails it & it's probably his best connection of the day. The crowd sighs as it fades away. They come up as one as it fades back in. 2 POINTS!

Reefy back to kicking first after the last spectacular effort.
He tees it up on the touch line & about 36 metres back for maxium angle. But the distance has him concerned. The twinge is obviously still present.
Voices can be heard amongst the crowd accepting & placing bets. But he is on another level. Everything is blanked out except for the point on the ball, that is about ot get heavly poked.
He walks back but decides it time to bring out the 5 pace walkback. He needs the distance.

The feeling is electric. He comes in & it sails like none before. It fades right. But too early. It fades back, coming down towards the right side, but it keeps going.

By this time the crowd is just too overbearing and our gallant superstars actually have to switch fields.

They start off in line with the right hand upright, reefy waits in the car park to shield the participant's cars from the expected meteorite-like impact of SS's massive kick. But he casts the pressure aside and calmly chips it over the black dot instead.

Reefy's up, makes no mistake as he raises the flags to keep the scores close.

The participants of this epic duel wonder why there are about 100 kids on the other field, and none on the field in play. They can only suggest that the punters have realised that it's not often that football royalty visits this particular ground, and as a mark of respect have vacated an entire field for this grandiose matchup. A very nice gesture indeed, and one that does not go unnoticed by our fearless goalkickers.

The old fella just aint up to it. He's choked. Say goodbye to that case of Carlton draught. He misses. No mental stability there, SS thinks of invoking the mercy rule on the hapless reefy.

SS Lines it up. Clearly in rythm he nonchalantly stands it up, moves in & smacks it.
It sails high & it sails very long. But its wide, not too wide for the swing however, that comes with round the corneer style kicking. It swings & keeps on swinging straight through the post & winking to the right hand upright on the way past.
Sweet kick.

Reef makes up his mind. He 's gonna go on. We hear those words repeated through the 100 strong crowd.
He racks the ball up high on the yellow tee. Walks back 4 times to check the line.
He opts for the 3 step approach.
Comes in & nails his best kick yet. The ball humms off the tee & sails straight does not flinch as it bring home an important score for the Reef.

Reef gives option for SS to go first & blow him off the park.
Also no need to further damage the leg.
SS wants to go first. He takes the mark back 30 metres along the line.
He takes his time obviosuly eager to finish this now.
He walks back, nobody is moving, no noise. He strikes it & he strikes very well. It's high, its long but there are doubts that this one will swing far enough.
It doesn't it misses. Sighs from the 150s trong crowd who are now on the edge of their toes.
