Peter Parr who is know with the Knights
I know Ponga is good but he is the highest paid at $1.4m..hmm
Yeah I have never understood the Ponga thing at the Knights. Not a lot of point having such a highly paid marquee (and very injury prone) player if the rest of the roster is bog average and the coach is out of his depth.
Having Ponga has really done nothing to get them anywhere near a premiership. A bit like Hunt with us.

Yes poor Frizz went up there for that elusive premiership.
But where he was and who was coaching at our club and football club staff, I would of too said anything to try my hand elsewhere

Dont forget Hastings, Brailey, Gagai and the Saifiti twins all on very good coin above their worth. Frizz signed for more than we thought he was worth at around $750K?
They are trying to right those wrongs right now

Our front row is our achilles heel. We need someone better than what we have.
I know y'all here hate him, but please dont discount the effort JDB puts in every week, 124m, 30/35 tackles despite his size being well under the average bookend. He was after all thrown in there to plug a hole as no one better, even tho he is a specialist lock.

We have apparently met with "Horse".

IMO, he would be our #1 target.

Officialy we have 1 spot available for next year (unofficially?), and Horse would be the cheapest option, and throw in thee youngest of the candidates already mentioned.

Sign Horse = complete our list. If 1 (or more) of the unofficials do find a home for n3xt year, then "officially" go in for DSaf. I don't regard RCG as a viable option. But that's just my opinion only.

Of course the elephant in the room is Hunt, and a lot of water to flow under the bridge in that case.

Agree re: Horse it just annoys me he said in a pressor supposedly he wanted to come to us then met with the dogs. Does he want to be here or not. RCG good but we have enough experience with cookie and holmes coming.

RE: Hunt - he should play out his contract. we are not ready next year to replace him yet. It would hurt us. Definitely we should plan to not extend him though and find or develop a replacement IMO

May be the case, but I really don't see how the Cowboys sign him either. Why when they've got so many stars to re-sign and having just moved Val on they would sign another big money player doesn't make sense to me. I mean surely they aren't that incompetent up there.

Obviously that doesn't have a heap to do with us, but I feel the RCG rumour might have something to it. I personally do not want Horsborough here at all, I really don't rate him, but I'm warming to the idea of RCG and Saifiti as I think we could probably afford both (we'd still need to move on a couple for roster spots). Getting both of those guys in there for next year along with Val, Cook, and the attacking threat of Liddle as a 14, I'd be reasonably confident of a top 8 finish. We won't go near a comp with that, but it's another very solid building block going into Flano year 2 (if these signings were to happen)
Sorry you will be disappointed for now!..tomorrow, next week. Who knows

Not to mention the biggest elephant in the room at the Cowboys- whoever did that Taumalolo deal isn't looking too smart now. Some crazy deals done up there.....
I have the sh**s with Gus atm but he talks to this.. these deals like Ponga and Taumanalo and Val and Lomax etc etc.. these deals are made to beat out other clubs offers.. so they should really have to wear that cost on their cap.. even if it turns out to be a bad deal for the club.. thats the counterbalance.. they overpaid and kept player x, but in turn they lose player y to a club with more cap space.

I will say that us offering (and losing) on so many players this last year has atleast made sure other clubs have paid proper coin.. eventually that should come around to helping us longer term.. I would say that except the new NRL teams coming could mess it all up.

do not understate the fact that flanos good mate buzz was fiercely backing Kyle before the judiciary hearing and then somehow the very next morning he gets the Holmes story... Flano knows exactly what he is doing with the media
It is a very good point that using the media to your advantage is something many of the NRL coaches do, especially the more experienced ones like Flanagan and Bennett.
I also think part of the arrangement with Buzz was not only getting the exclusive for Holmes, but also the timing of the release of the story.
Kyle being found guilty of the biting charge on Tuesday night, but a certain amount of the attention deflected by the Holmes signing news the following day.
Also Buzz sprouting the news about Horsburgh being linked to the Dragons is another one Buzz broke a little while back.

Not all hate him.. we were more of the view he was a good 1 year option for 2025, at around $400k. He is playing well, except against the roosters when he went missing when needed.

I think Val Holmes is a great signing and Horsbrugh would add some much needed aggression to the forwards.
Not so keen on the Saifiti rumour I heard recently- he's not the player he was a couple of seasons ago and has plenty of errors in him.
Stone Fainu is off contract and might be a handy signing for the right money. Maybe Jake Clifford, too.
There can't be too many 2016 Sharkies left for Flanno to sign up.
