I would be shopping Sloan around he is at least sellable unlike Ravalawa & Lawrie. Hopefully Ramsay comes good in the future to take over from Gutho huge risk but not as huge as letting Hunt go without a ready replacement.
Given Hunt’s attitude it was the only way forward.

He wasn’t a team player. Made our attack very predictable and easy to counter.

He was durable, but now too slow to be a running half. Missed a huge number of tackles and always was ready to criticise a young player who made a mistake.

To be frank I would be ok with young Flanno at 7 and Sloan or LKT at 6 for 2025 if we get Gutho.

I have a feeling Coach Flanno will snag a good half for 2026. We have the cash, but we want a high character signing at half.

Hopefully we are running out of time & can’t move on dud players like Ravalawa & Lawrie to be honest i don’t think Sloan will ever come good.

Hunt wanted OUT ! Hunt wanted OUT ! How many times does that need to be said ? ? ? The Dragons , Flanagan wanted the little mischief maker to remain in the Big Red V .

Hunt did not , he done everything but tear up his contract in an effort leave us and finally the club gave him his little hearts desire . The main point that I am attempting to get across is that it was Hunt himself that left the Dragons without a play maker - NOT THE CLUB NOR FLANAGAN .

Point i am making is losing Sloan is easier to replace than Hunt.

If Atko isnt a sure thing, Flanno probably atleast has a conversation with Pezets manager.. but I just have this feeling that he is locked in @ Newcastle... and tbf.. after they extended Wishart.. he is well down the pecking order.

Again though.. I do wonder how Newcastle afford Pryce, Gamble, Hutcho, Cogger, Pezet.. unless perhaps this is a 2026 thing..

I wonder how much they are paying Frizell.

At the very worst Sullivan would be solid cover at 7, 6 & 9 if the Tiger are paying most of his salary.
I still think he was horribly mismanaged by Griffin and his development might have turned out differently with a better coach. Also not convinced going to the Tigers was a wise move considering he was going to another dud NRL coach in Benji.
He's got a lot of work to do to though to get back to first grade. I'd take a punt though.
I'd leave that decision entirely for Flano is he thinks he can get him to play well.

No doubt there is talent, it's all about attitude with him and that's a challenge a coach needs to believe in...

Gazza I partly agree. No doubt Hunt wanted out and Flanno said all the right things publicly..but
I believe in the beginning Flanno needed Hunt no doubt this year and even said early on tyhis year lets look at 2026 sucking up.

I said 12 months ago, reading between the lines based on Flannos words that he guaranteed this year only and would revisit it then based on the antics in 2023.
Flanno is no fool and the way Hunt / manager carried on would never have been lost on him..nor the club for that fact. We seemingly got Hunt on side then when it was time....

Hunt was never a guarantee for next year despite what was trotted in the media
He got a kick up the arse and guess what do you know...he is gone.
Flanno played the game of Hunt publicly and internally well IMO.

I would be sad to see Sloan go- he's a tremendous athlete to watch when he stretches out in attack plus he is the only genuine x factor player we have. However, I can understand where Flanno is coming from in relation to wanting security at the back. I'd be paying Sloan overs to keep him, if necessary, on the wing and getting rid of the ordinary Allen and Feagai if we need the salary cap space in the future.

Doesn't look as though he's lost some of that chip if the Tigers want him gone. It was silly money however, it's a drastic move.

What could have been now that Hunt is gone.
He can thank his manager stroking his ego chasing the big bucks, yes he may have been treated unfairly but the writing was on the wall, if you love your club you try and work things out.
