The Rumours Thread

I’d prefer no more forwards to Lodge. We have a pack that needs an alpha to lead it, it I still expect better next year with current guys. Couchies a year older can have more impact, Lawrie can’t be worse, Sele over injuries, Frankie milo and de bEllon in for good years…. Lots of youth on the way and deserve to be at least blooded. And a full preseason will sharpen them all up.

No point signing a prop unless they are top shelf. We have too many average props on the books

I don't think Jason Demetriou threw him under the bus, if anything he stuck by him for too long in 2023 when his form was shit and Souths became predictable. A stint in reserve grade might have helped him come back better than before but we'll never know. I think he was pretty average at best and certainly never a star. Too similar to Kyle Flanno really
Ilias is not very fast. We need at least one of the halves to be quick.

Fair Dinkum

All I can see is the image of my dog at the Vet.
Tail lifted, thermometer inserted, eyebrows go up, the eyes widen, and he tries to sit down.

Imagine a whole footy team
I dunno about this. I don't even like harsh toilet paper.

Not sure if this is a management thing or player thing. Probably wondering if He’ll get a spot for 25 onwards.
Though thing is what happen to players biding their time . Learning the craft and finally having the knowledge when it comes to starting full time?
I like the look of him and I think he will be a regular first grader somewhere. But he won't leave us yet. He has already poked his nose into first grade here. Why would he mess with that in a rebuilding club? And who else is going to play him in firsts? Who is weak in the halves and would like to develop a strong young utility half who can also perhaps play lock? Souths have Shuster. Balmain have Douehi. I dunno.

This is just manager bait.

Bazz,

You can't stop rumours buddy. I get it can be frustrating but the whole point of a rumours thread is just that. The ones I don't like is when they are presented as fact / done. I guess that's your point?
Yep, it’s the “rumours” thread.
For people to post a rumour, everyone to discuss the merits of the rumour, then wait and see if rumour hits or not.
Without rumours this forum would just be a bunch of old blokes talking about the Taj in the 60s or a bunch of middle age blokes arguing over the best place to get a pork roll.

I think some people on the forum need to be more particular with their wording.
Either that or they need to stop posting rumours from uncredible sources.

The hit n miss record is terrible!

I never believed it just kept saying until its official I’ll believe it haha.

I am one who is looking forward to our young forwards coming through however, for 2025, we definitely need two Alfa props and a to halfback. I am sure we have the funds, we just need to find the recurits.

Hopefully players can learn from the Sullivan drama and realise that sometimes the grass isn’t greener on the other side. Tough it out for another few years and show your worth. I think we’ve been giving players pay increases on “chance they’ll come good” though Flanno seems to have changed that

Well if we haven’t signed Lodge and I don’t like our chances getting Terrell May I’m gonna be a little worried about our pack next year
Well if we don't end up with either of them then hopefully it's Thompson.

If we miss all 3 of them, then it is very slim pickings and we will end up with a pretty average signing unless he is able to get set a miracle signing of someone currently contracted that we thought was no chance. Which I would say is probably next to no chance of happening.

So hopefully we get at least 1 of Lodge, May or Thompson. Preferably May or Thompson.

No real loss if Saints don't end up with Lodge. Nathan Brown and Lodge both went to Manly and Manly extended Brown and not interested in Lodge. How many clubs has he been to and none really extending him past a season or 2.

Dogs are bringing in the Roosters forward and the best prop in England. They would not have come across cheap. Surely they cannot afford to spend big of 3 props on top of Kikau, Crichton and their other utilities thay brought across last season. Saints should have more dollars to throw at May, surely. Flanno just has to show clips of how he turned Fifita from the Tigers into a dominant forward that led the team to win a comp as inspiration? The Cronulla pack was outstanding and overcame a Bellamy pack in a GF. Any forward should see that alone as a reason to come to work under Flanno.

Luc and RFM will get a full off season so that will make them much better in 2025 as well. On their day these 2 are pretty damn good and if Saints can get them there it will be a pretty strong pack. If they don't sign a forward the Couchman boys will get more game time so I am not fussed if no newby comes in.
