Mary was well liked by players. The team he assembled was very impressive.

I always felt as though after the 2018 season where we should've been in the prelims if not the GF we should've sacked him then. He was burnt out.

Then 2019 started with JDB being suspended and Widdop wanting out and it was all over from there and look where we are.

Hook was a terrible appointment and SF was bypassed by how many clubs before he landed at the Saints? I still have hope for SF, but gee he needs to start landing some players.
Flannagan is not the recruitment manager.
We don't have a recruitment manager.
He is not the GM of Football.
We do not have a good GM of Football.
He is not the CEO.
Our new CEO has just landed.

This.
The silence from the club is deafening in matters that mean most. Zero word from our sponsor etc. I seriously wonder how long our new ceo will last once he reviews our current corporate setup. 🤔

I had a similar experience years ago when my 4 kids were little. Constant swearing and comments during the game, and surrounded and intimidated after the game when trying to walk back to the P1 carpark.
Up to that point we went to every Saints Dogs game, we have never gone to a Dogs home game since, and it’s only me that goes to the Saints home games v Dogs. My wife no longer attends games at all and since that game takes zero interest in RL and is downright hostile to the sport at the professional level.

Over the last few years I thought the behaviour was much improved and similar to what every clubs supporters can come up with. I’m very sad to have read your post and see that behaviour return.
What's even worse is that their stupid supporters didn't even know what the f**k was happening with their team until they started winning, and now that they are, they want to rub it in everyone's faces.

Sometimes I wonder if Flannagan has been setup to fail just so Dean Young can win the job of head coach.
That is true, but he still needs to land a big fish at some point. From all reports he is actively involved in recruitment. His commentary last year about promising a top 8 finish, which of course may come true will also come back to bite him.

And as people have responded to you many times, this is an absurd conspiracy given that they've had the opportunity to appoint Young when Mary was sacked and then when Hook was sacked. To clarify, in your scenario the club rejected him twice to then appoint Flanagan in a deliberate set-up that ensures his failure to then appoint Young?

Exactly…

The CEO needs to fix all of this & hit the ground running he has been in the role for less then 2 weeks & hasn’t been sighted apart from an uninspiring email which was just dribble to members.

Get infront of the camera & speak to all members & fans then start putting into action what you say.

I just think the club threw everything at Mary to help him succeed, as others have mentioned, he assembled a fairly impressive roster. Did all those players really buy into Mary being a master coach? Who was our list manger back in those days? I cannot imagine he pulled that roster together all on his own.
It doesn’t seem that all far fetched to believe that Hook and Flanno have not been afforded the same level of support that Mary was given.

Believe it or not but coaches do the recruitment these days by meeting the players and convincing them to join the club and Flano has miserably failed in this area by only landing unwanted players
Also failed to keep some good ones
Recruitment managers these days do the paperwork and some pathways
CEO runs the business side
Lets get real and stop denying where the problem lies
FYI Flano has been given the keys by the board to drive the footy team success and they are monitoring the movement of the car and imo if things don’t improve it might be similar to the final drive of Griffin sooner rather than later

The scouts are most probably 'old bys' who get money for nothing. Mary didn't bring anyone to the Dragons but was part of the reason many left the club.

You are right about Bostock, Temale and Lomax. Many on this forum were speaking about these players and questioning
Lomax Tamale lost by Flano

Lomax Tamale lost by Flano
The verdict on Tamale last year by many was that he was a complete liability in defence.

Im just stating facts.

I've barely seen him play but I'd say it's too early to say he will be a massive loss. Not saying he won't be. He certainly sounded like a prospect when snatched from union.

Loma and Bostock on the other hand is a different story.

Agree to be honest we can cover that loss.

I feel you maybe right Saintmar, recruitment has been a complete let down. As I stated earlier this is where I rate a coach and obviously with win rate. Both areas Flanno needs to turn around very quickly.
If the board are looking at Flanno's position I hope they don't bullshit around like they normally do.

WIN FOR STRUGGLING DRAGONS
The struggling Dragons are set to receive a massive boost with in-form hooker Jacob Liddle poised to reject offers from rival clubs to remain with the Red V.

Playing behind star signing Damien Cook after his arrival at the club, Liddle has had a frustrating season, starting on the bench and getting less game time than he wants.

With an option to leave, Liddle was all set to quit the club, but has had a change of start and is close to signing a long-term deal until the end of 2029.

"We had a long talk about it and Jacob is happy at the club and Damien will probably retire at the end of next season so that will be an opportunity for him," Liddle's manager Gavin Orr told Wide World of Sports.

"He was in-demand for sure but looks like staying put."

It is the mole but this is one I hope is true.

The Dragons are delighted to announce that hooker Jacob Liddle has signed a three-year contract extension with the club.

The new deal will keep the 28-year-old in the Red V until at least the end of the 2028 season.

Liddle joined the Dragons ahead of the 2023 season and has since played 56 of a possible 60 games, with 14 tries.

“Jacob has become a really important player for us since joining the club and his form this year has been outstanding,” said Dragons Head Coach Shane Flanagan.

“He’s a consistent and reliable player for us and we’re extremely happy to be able to extend his time at the club by another three years.”

Very very happy with that. The wait has been excruciating. Now just a new No 7 please- grab Sexton. Although ive watched Glover a few times recently and he has a great kicking game so why we haven’t promoted him is beyond me. Ilias is still rubbish even in Reggies, and KFs kicking is appalling. Weve bought forwards up this year, so how about some more backs. After last week and Anzac Day we cant do any worse

Funny how some on here were peddling the rumour that he had signed with manly. As I suggested, these posters act like they are in the know, but actually know shxt.
