B
Jett Liu has left the club

He has joined the Gold Coast Titans
Bit of a shame

I wonder if connected with us trying to get Sami down to the Dragons ?

Ie we don’t offer a new contract to Liu and titans got first offer to make it work ?

unlikely but I’m still hopeful we can get creative enough to help Titans release Sami

ie Ilias and Liu ?

Watching him over the years at both Titans and Warriors, he seems to be the type of player that is very dominant in reserves but struggles a bit with the step up to firsts. What are your thoughts?
Agree
Extremely up and about in ressies and dominant
He has a kicking game for FG

He is only 25yrs old so maybe a stack of upside like a fair few before him that came on late as a half as the whole package

With the Pap announcement down south, I think the chances of landing Tino at the Dragons has dropped significantly. They are clearing the decks to get him. This will be Bellamy's last crack before retirement, so they are going to go all in and recruit the best available to fill in the gaps.

Unfortunately for Bellamy, Ivan Cleary will still be around and is a far better coach so hopefully will rain on his parade. Cleary will keep his FG team intact this season for once and with another offseason with the newbies like Blaze, they will only get better.

I would love nothing more that the Storm not to make the 8 on Bellamy's last season of NRL. With the Storm that is as he could head to the Titans.

Always a shame when the better juniors leave. Seems to me a lot of the guys we bring in from other systems (Canberra in this case) up and leave the second someone dangles a top 30 spot in front of them. Whereas the home grown players seem to be happy to wait that extra year or so.

None of this adds up.
Next season is likely Bellamys last at Storm, which it is then reported he will potentially be moving to the Gold Coast and if he wants it, a job at the Titans.
If the Storm are interested in Tino (they would be stupid not to), it has nothing to do with Bellamy.

I know you didn't ask me but I reckon it could more of a case of maturing into his ability.

This is particularly common for halves and I reckon it might the case with Boyd...

He is hot and cold but the talent is there . He was one of very few at the Titans that had a good couple of years in 22 ,23 but was not the same in 24 and consequently dismissed by the Titans . But hit the ground running in 25 taking the Warriors cup side as you know to a premiership . He has a great boot on him too which is something we lack . The games he had in place of Metcalfe were solid with the exception of a couple of bad decisions . I think maybe in 24 he just was in bad head space after so long at the Titans , who wouldn't be lol . I think there is a genuine NRL standard half in him just needs the team around him , but in saying that he is obviously no Metcalfe as we saw . The Warriors were good with him but not good enough .
Metcalfe was going for Dally M player of the year so very very few were as good as Metcalfe though. At least he is a genuine 7 with a good boot . Having him would be going forwards not backwards in my opinion .

Although he would possibly be a better option than Flanagan, I don't buy the idea of Tannah Boyd being anything else than a reserve grade quality half. 9 starts for 5 wins seems passable at first, but considering those wins came against the wooden spooner knights twice, second last Titans, Tigers and us you quickly see he's nothing to write home about. And that's behind quite a formidable pack including JFH. He ain't getting none of that quality with us. He may have a big boot but is defensively fragile, completing at 80%. You could argue we need the boot more than the only tangible quality Kyle brings in his defence, but they're effectively the same player, competitors not quite good enough for firsts. I'd rather we turn Atko into a half, he has a bit of Moses about him and either stick with LKT or bring in someone like Harris Tevita who is a far better player. We all know Flanagan is in the halves again though so this is all pretty moot.

Ando will be a better judge than us, but what we need is a 7 who can play off the back foot.. were not gonna be a team dominating for long periods for many years.. we need essentially what Burton provides for the Dogs, he has his moments offensively sure, but worst case hes going to kick the sh** out of the ball on the 5th, and as a bonus that extra 10-15m on touch finders.. that all adds up to offsetting the metres lost in the forward battles.
