Does anyone know what is happening with Lawrie hasn't been sighted all pre season. Very strange that nothing has come out yet unless he has been granted an extended break which would be unlikely I would think.

Assume that knee infection he got at the end of last season cleared up ok?

A good friend of mine had a similar thing recently. A staph infection caused by a small cut on his knee. Within two hours he could hardly walk, straight to hospital and being operated on as the infection had spread so fast. Ended up in hospital for a week, he's home now but has been off work for a month, still limping. Crazy as it just came from nowhere. Won't be going for a run for a couple more months as the stitching around his knee cap could re-open.

Hopefully Blocka's was not as serious and he's back to normal. If he doesn't pick up another contract we may well need him at some point this season so would be good for him to go out with a bang.

Nothing against the fella at all. In fact, he seems a top human and someone who would be easy to spend time around.

From a business (football) perspective, I hope we’re not in a position he sees NRL game time this year.

But absolute good luck to Blake.

Agree with you mate. We need better quality right across our squad. Some of the vitriol on this site directed at him is pretty low. Even when he was having that quality season the contract extension was probably one year too long, but that's not Blake's fault. If we don't suffer as many injuries this year I can't see him being called upon much for the first team but if he is needed, hopefully he can do a job for us.

The good thing is that almost all of the juniors now breaking through appear to have exceptional athleticism and fitness. This bodes well for our future. However there needs to be a balance of fitness vs upper body strength. We have a lot of young forwards on the smaller side, which they make up for with excellent defensive technique. Halangahu is the one who I believe has the perfect combination of athleticism and power.
