Just stating Loko is cool with Young and I’d say most of the younger brigade too. He’s not my preferred coach as I’d prefer Hornby. Young would have no problem flicking Flano jr to Reggie’s.
No room for a 'best friends club' we need a serious coach who has demonstrated aility to perform.

Dean Youg
Dean Young has never coached a team to win a comp.
Willi Talau has won coaching Jersey Flegg and NWE Cup level.

Dean Young failed to win a game when previously interim coach.
Dean Young has failed to produce good results as defensive coach at NRL and SOO level.
Willi Talau has developed current NRL players:
Stewart
Egan
Couchman twins
Halangahu
LPT
LKT
Reed

I'd say Willi Talau would be the players favoured option.

We have a fullback candidate who is already in our spine: Atkinson.
We have a halfback for our spine already, Reed.
We have a stand-in five-eighth already: Gutherson.
We hae a hooker already: Liddle.

Move
Holmes to left wing
Flanagan to reserve grade
Leilua to the prop rotation
Gutherson to five-eighth

Now go and recruit:
A first-grade winger.
Two quick first-grade Centres
One first-grade prop.

You could also look at moving Cook to lock forward, similar to what the Sharks did with Cam McInnes (who used to play hooker).
Stewart has a great future as the NRL lock for the Saints. I expect he will be the NSW SOO lock at some time in the future.

Cook is off contract however, I would not be against him taking up Young's assistant coach position in 2027.

Lawrie & Guler are not signed for next season whilst LPT is. Why put those 2 knobs ahead of LPT when they have given those 2 ample opportunities to prove themselves and they have done nothing. It's not as if their stats warrant their selection. Apart from Luc, he is the only one that looks like deserves another year the others on the final year are simply not good enough so bring in the future. This is something the next coach will do for sure.

ST. GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS CONFIRM LANDMARK SIGNING OF HUMPHREY B. BEAR

KOGARAH, NSW
– St. George Illawarra Dragons CEO Ryan Webb has today confirmed the club has secured the signature of free agent and iconic entertainer Humphrey B. Bear on a one-year "Development Player" contract, effective immediately.

The signing comes after weeks of rigorous scouting in the Magic Forest, with the Dragons’ recruitment team identifying Humphrey’s elite physical presence, legendary durability, and unparalleled ability to remain calm under pressure without ever uttering a single word of dissent to match officials.

“Humphrey brings a unique skill set to our forward pack,” said Webb. “He is a big body who knows how to find his way to the line, and frankly, his tackle efficiency is through the roof—mostly because once he hugs you, you’re not going anywhere.”

However, the CEO addressed the significant "Special Provisions" section of the contract that has been the subject of intense negotiation with Humphrey’s management.
“We have reached a mutual agreement regarding the NRL’s strict uniform policy,” Webb confirmed. “While Humphrey has traditionally preferred a more… minimalist approach to his lower-half attire, we have inserted a mandatory ‘Lower-Body Textile Clause’. For the first time in his 59-year career, Humphrey will be required to wear official Dragons-branded playing shorts during all on-field activities.”

“We believe this is a win for the fans, the sponsors, and general public decency standards at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.”

Humphrey B. Bear reportedly nodded three times and performed a celebratory somersault upon signing the deal.

While the club is confident in his ability, Humphrey is expected to miss several mid-season training sessions due to "scheduled seasonal hibernation lethargy" and an ongoing endorsement deal with a local honey co-operative.

Yes yes - AI - but funny none the less

Drinkwater is not worth 1m. We have to pull the deal, way to hot and cold he has been worse then Sloan tonight.
It’s confirmed, Drinky has signed with us prior to tonight’s game.
Haran presented him with a pair of dragons speedos to wear and he played tonight’s game in our 2026 form, like a true busted asshole.
FMD it’s hard to find any positives out of our situation atm, it’s so depressing
